A George IV mahogany games table, the rosewood crossbanded octagonal top, with hinged sides, each enclosing a compartment, the central, sliding section with a chess board on the underside, enclosing a calf backgammon board below, the frieze with a lower brass moulded edge, raised on ring turned legs, restoration, 61cm wide x 45.5cm deep x 74cm high, with a 19th century, barleycorn-form bone chess set and draughts and a shaker, the chess set one side stained red and the opposing side left natural, some damage, king 11cm high, pawn 4cm high, with catalogue and receipt (4)Purchased from Halcyon Days, Brook Street.Purchased from Halcyon Days in Brook Street on 221087 for £6,700. Illustrated in catalogue with this lot, as well as a copy of the original receipt.Table - Restorations including one leg re-stuck, formerly broken-off, some small sections of veneer later and a later leather backgammon surface. Otherwise ok.Draughts - red stain worn in places. Many pieces with chipped edges (some 1cm long) and some with vertical cracks.Chess set - overall ok, apart from some isolated wear on some pieces and one rook with a chip on the flag holder.

An Islamic inlaid games table of typical form, the top hinging to backgammon and chess playing surfaces, the whole raised on cabriole legs with low shelf. Height 69 cm, width 62 cm, depth 32 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. There are no loose joints. The top is in generally good condition with only minor losses to the veneers around the corners. The lowest section of the top (the stepped area) has more significant losses to the veneers as should be visible from the image. The front edge of the lowest tier also has veneer losses. The same comments apply to the sides of all tiers. The interior playing surface is in generally good order with only very minor losses to the marquetry. The interior condition is generally very good. The frieze and legs again have minor losses and loose veneers particularly around the feet area. There are substantial veneer losses to the rear bottom sections of both back legs. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
