ARSENAL: A hardback edition of Arsenal! Arsenal!, being an Official Souvenir edition published by Arsenal FC in commemoration of their 'Double' as Football League Champions and FA Cup winners, 1971, individually signed to the front free endpaper by twenty members of the Arsenal squad of 1970-71 including George Graham, Bob McNab, Bob Wilson, Sammy Nelson, Charlie George, George Armstrong, John Roberts, Peter Marinello, Peter Simpson, Pat Rice, Peter Storey, Frank McLintock, John Radford, Ray Kennedy, Bertie Mee (manager) etc. Neatly mounted (appropriately with red tape) to the inside front cover is a printed 8vo certificate issued with the book and presenting it to Dr. J. Crane 'in recognition of valuable services to the club during our greatest season', signed at the base by Denis Hill-Wood (chairman). Two further inside pages feature five neatly mounted original ticket stubs for various football matches including England vs. Wales 1973, England vs. Yugoslavia 1972 and the FA Cup Final 1971. An interesting association copy. Some very light, minor staining, only very slightly affecting the signatures and some light wear to the red leather and gilt stamped covers, otherwise about VG Dr. John Crane (d.2009) Arsenal FC and England doctor who led England's medical team at four World Cups in 1986, 1990, 1998 & 2002.

Professionally mounted and matted in black and gold and framed and glazed in a gold coloured frame to an overall size of 36 x 40. VG

Alles in Warhols frühen Zeichnungen scheint sich der künstlerischen Sprache der Zeit zu widersetzen. Warhol verfolgt mithilfe seines streng linearen, jeden künstlerischen Duktus verneinenden Zeichenstils auf Basis der Kontur einen Gegenentwurf zu der gestischen Bildsprache des abstrakten Expressionismus. Hatte Jackson Pollock gerade die amerikanische Kunst von der Kontur befreit und durch das von ihm begründete Action Painting revolutioniert, so wird der ausdrucksvollen malerischen Geste und der künstlerischen Dokumentation reiner Empfindung auf der Malfläche von Warhol eine strenge grafische Ideomatik entgegengesetzt. In den 1950er Jahren experimentiert Warhol in seinen Papierarbeiten nicht nur mit dem `Umdruckverfahren`, das der einzelnen Linie eine neue, von der persönlichen Handschrift des Künstlers abstrahierte Qualität verleiht, sondern auch mit der additiven und seriellen Kombination von Zeichen. Und so steht der von visuellen Formeln wie Herz, Schiffchen, Stern, Mund und Sonne bevölkerte Hintergrund der vorliegenden Porträtzeichnung in Verbindung mit Warhols zeitgleich entstandenen Stempelbildern. PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN BY BRUNÉEL A LYON, CIRCA 1830 with twist sighted barrels, engraved breech, engraved tang incorporating the back-sight, flush-fitting locks signed in ovals enclosed by fronds, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip and fore-end, the former carved with a green man mask in the round, raised cheek-piece carved with a griffon, steel mounts including trigger-guard with finial of shaped outline and hinged butt-cap concealing cavities for balls, percussion caps and a bayonet, white metal barrel bolt escutcheons and vacant escutcheon, and associated ramrod 86.5 cm; 34 1/8 in barrels Brunel is recorded in Lyon circa 1825-50. He invented a percussion gun that was tested by the French army in 1827 and was manufactured in the following year at the Maubeuge arsenal.
