A Japanese WW2 Kai Gunto naval officers sword, the tang being an anchor arsenal mark (Toyokawa?) with cord lashed ray skin tsuka and a cast bronze tsuba and lacquered leather-covered saya with two closely spaced obi-tori. 101 cm overall length inclusive of scabbard x 70 cm length of blade.The leather scabbard is split but structurally good.the blade has some very fine damage at the cutting edge, see the extra images.The hilt and tuba are in good order but the mekugi will need replacing.
A Japanese World War II, Shin Gunto officers sword, with ray skin and cord-bound tsuka, gilt bronze tsuba, the blade with a cloud-like hamon, and a steel saya, the tang bearing kanji marks for Kanemune Fukumoto and a Seki arsenal mark and dated 1941. 101 cm overall length x 68 cm length of blade.The hilt, Tsuba, and Scabbard show signs of a former keeper that is no longer fitted.The hilt and tsuba are in good order.The blade shows some signs of being re-polished at the cutting edge but the edge doesn't have any large divets to the edge see the extra images supplied .

(2)Condition Report: Muhammed Ali v Henry Cooper - light marks and foxing to covers, some occasional toning to internal pages. Salvatore Burrini versus Walter McGowan - some blue ink scribble and water mark to pages 2 and 3 (Jack Solomons' article) further watermark to centre fold of some pages, otherwise internally clean and overall good condition.
A Composite English Pikeman's Armour Circa 1640 Of blackened iron, comprising a pot helmet with two-piece rounded skull with low turned comb, the base of the skull with a row of dome-headed rivets between incised lines, the downturned brim with recessed turned border with rivets en suite and struck with the mark of the London Armourer's Company, crowned 'IR' mark (James II armoury mark) and maker's initials 'F' of John Frankling (some rivets missing, peaks damaged), gorget of two plates each with turned borders, the front plate with maker's mark 'WC' of William Crouch, breast-plate with medial ridge drawn-out to a point above the skirt, turned and gilt at the line engraved neck and arms, and struck beneath the former with maker's mark 'ID', possibly of John Dawston, together with a further crowned 'IR' arsenal mark, back-plate shaped to the back and also struck with crowned 'IR' mark, rectangular tassets each of six simulated upward-lapping lames and with turned gilt borders, riveted hinges, and two pivot-hook and pin catches for later adjustable shoulder-straps reinforced with riveted plates: on an adjustable wooden stand mounted on a black painted wooden plinth Footnotes: Provenance H.M. A Rare French 15-Bore Flintlock Louis XVIII Second Restoration Period 1817 Model Gardes Du Corps Du Roi Musket, Dated 1817, And A French 15-Bore Flintlock AN9 Model Musketoon, No. 205, Dated 1812 The first with plain barrel (light rust patination and scattered pitting) retained by three spring-held brass barrel bands, the forward one pierced, carrying the fore-sight and also forming the ramrod-entry, the breech dated on one side of the breech flat and stamped with two inspector's marks on the other, 'H', a star above in a rectangle, and 'N' in an oval, plain tang, flat bevelled lock etched 'Manuf. Royale De Versailles' and stamped with inspector's mark, 'G', a star above in a rectangle, brass pan with revolving brass pan-cover, the latter with knurled outer edge, ring-neck cock, figured full stock stamped with inspector's initials on the side-flat and on one side of the butt above circular Aoust arsenal mark dated 1817, and behind the trigger-guard tang with the name 'LANSKIN', lacquered regulation brass mounts including escutcheon embossed with the arms of France and 'GARDES DU CORPS DU ROI', sling loops, original steel ramrod, and in fine condition; the second of regulation pattern, with plain barrel retained by a two spring-held barrel bands, one of steel and carrying a sling loop, the other of brass carrying the fore-sight and also forming the ramrod-entry, bright flat bevelled lock with rounded tail, etched 'Manuf. Roy de St. Etienne (Neue Støckel 8797) and stamped with inspector's mark 'S', a fleur-de-lys above, in an oval behind the brass pan, figured three-quarter stock, the butt with indistinct circular arsenal mark on both sides, and with the serial number and other numbers on one side, brass and steel mounts variously stamped with inspector's marks, steel ramrod, probably original, and in fair condition (2) 103 cm. and 75.3 cm. barrels respectively For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

With a 74.5cm slightly curved blade with fuller and spear point, the blade sharpened for active service and etched with a battleship, Imperial Reichs Crown over a fouled anchor, all amongst scrolling foliage. The guard with double folding inner and outer sections, the larger with fouled anchor, all with further scrolling foliage, with an ivory grip with wire binding, the pommel with lion's head set with red and greed eyes. Mounted with a second World War Kriegsmarine sword knot. The leather scabbard with engraved brass mounts, with twin ring suspension loops. With a black leather sword belt and twin hangers with Reichsmarine buckle marked for A.W. & S. Berlin. The grip engraved internally 'M. Tikrem C.L.' (?) and 'Dohnka'. 89cm overall. With copied research and images of some of Dohnka's ships. Research accompanying the sword suggests that Dohnka relates to Emil Dohnke who was born on the 22nd May 1879, he joined the Imperial Navy in 1896 as an artillery mechanic being promoted to the officer's rank of Lieutenant Ordnance Specialist (Feuerwerks-Leutnenat) on the 19th July 1911. He served in the artillery department of the Imperial Shipyard (Kaiserliche Werft) in Kiel and on the 22nd March 1914 he was promoted to Feuerwerks-Oberleutnant (Lieutenant Senior Grade). Following the beginning of the First World War he was posted to the ammunition depot of the German Navy Corps in Flanders. He appears to have retired from active service on the 30th October 1915 retiring from the Navy in 1918. By July 1st 1934 he had rejoined the Reichsmarine as a Lieutenant Commander and Erganzungs-Offizer (Supplement Officer), a branch of the Navy created for specialists in Artillery, Mine Sweeping or Torpedo operation. He remained at the Naval Arsenal in Kiel rising to the rank of Fregattenkapitan (Commander Senior Grade). He seems to have left the Navy at this time and celebrated his 100th birthday in Hamburg in 1979. A photocopied report of his 100th birthday celebrations is included with copied research relating to this combatant from the First and Second World Wars . A Cites License has been applied for MUVZ2SVW *Condition: Repair to split in scabbard, part of wire grip binding lacking, some light marking to blade.
