A collection of blue and white Lowestoft porcelain tea wares,mid to late 18th century, comprising a moulded sauce boat or cream jug, depicting a Chinese fishing scene, with painter's numeral mark 6, 10.5cm long, a 'Lady and Squirrel' pattern tea bowl, 7.5cm diameter, a moulded tea bowl, with floral decoration and painted pseudo Meissen mark, 7.5cm diameter, a 'Fence and Garden' pattern teacup, painted pseudo Worcester mark, 6.5cm high, another similar example with a paper label inscribed 'Lowestoft Certified by Hobson of the British Museum', 6cm high, a 'Mansfield' pattern teacup, 5.5cm high, and a teacup depicting a house on a hill, 6.5cm high (7)Literature: The paper label refers to Robert Lockhart Hobson (1872-1941), who worked at the British Museum as Keeper of Ceramics and Ethnography from 1921, and later Keeper of Oriental Antiquities and Ethnography from 1934-38.Condition ReportSauce boat) Restoration around the base of the handle.
