Apollo 15 moonwalker Dave Scott Alfred Worden signed Space cover NASA Astronauts. 2001 30th Anniversary Apollo 15. postmarked cover. Superb illustration on front of scenes from the mission. Also illustrated on back with crew names and mission information. David Randolph Scott (born June 6, 1932) is an American retired test pilot and NASA astronaut who was the seventh person to walk on the Moon. Selected as part of the third group of astronauts in 1963, Scott flew to space three times and commanded Apollo 15, the fourth lunar landing; he is one of four surviving Moon walkers and the last surviving crew member of Apollo 15. Before becoming an astronaut, Scott graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and joined the Air Force. After serving as a fighter pilot in Europe, he graduated from the Air Force Experimental Test Pilot School (Class 62C) and the Aerospace Research Pilot School (Class IV). Scott retired from the Air Force in 1975 with the rank of colonel, and more than 5,600 hours of logged flying time. As an astronaut, Scott made his first flight into space as a pilot of the Gemini 8 mission, along with Neil Armstrong, in March 1966, spending just under eleven hours in low Earth orbit. He would have been the second American astronaut to walk in space had Gemini 8 not made an emergency abort. Scott then spent ten days in orbit in March 1969 as Command Module Pilot of Apollo 9, a mission that extensively tested the Apollo spacecraft, along with Commander James McDivitt and Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart. After backing up Apollo 12, Scott made his third and final flight into space as commander of the Apollo 15 mission, the fourth crewed lunar landing and the first J mission. Scott and James Irwin remained on the Moon for three days. Following their return to Earth, Scott and his crewmates fell from favour with NASA after it was disclosed that they had carried four hundred unauthorized postal covers to the Moon. After serving as director of NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center in California, Scott retired from the agency in 1977. Since then, he has worked on a number of space-related projects and served as a consultant for several films about the space program, including Apollo 13. Alfred Merrill Worden (February 7, 1932 - March 18, 2020) was an American test pilot, engineer and NASA astronaut who was the command module pilot for the Apollo 15 lunar mission in 1971. One of only 24 people to have flown to the Moon, he orbited it 74 times in the command module (CM) Endeavour. Worden was born in Michigan in 1932; he spent his early years living on farms and attended the University of Michigan for one year, before securing an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Graduating in 1955, he elected to be commissioned in the United States Air Force, though he had no piloting experience. He proved adept at flying fighter planes, and honed his skills, becoming a test pilot before his selection as a Group 5 astronaut in 1966. He served on the support crew for Apollo 9 and the backup crew for Apollo 12 before his selection for the Apollo 15 crew in 1970, with David Scott as commander and James Irwin as lunar module pilot. After Apollo 15 reached lunar orbit, and his crewmates departed to land on the Moon, Worden spent three days alone in the CM, becoming in the process the individual who travelled the farthest from any other human being, a distinction he still holds. He took many photographs of the Moon and operated a suite of scientific instruments that probed the Moon. During Apollo 15's return flight to Earth, Worden performed an extravehicular activity (EVA), or spacewalk, to retrieve film cassettes from cameras on the exterior of the spacecraft. It was the first "deep space" EVA in history, and as of 2022 remains the one that has taken place farthest from Earth. After their return, the crew became involved in a controversy over postal covers they had taken to the Moon; they were reprimanded by NASA and did not fly in space again. Worden remained at NASA until 1975 at the Ames Research Center, then entered the private sector. He engaged in a variety of business activities and had a longtime involvement with the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, serving as chair of its board of directors from 2005 until 2011. He made many public appearances, promoting a renewed space program and education in the sciences, before his death in 2020. Good Condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. A bottle of Álvaro Palacios L'Ermita, 1995, Priorat.Category: Red wine.75 cl.Level: B.This is a bottle of aged wine, matured slowly in a bottle, maintaining the balance, aromas and quality of this type of wine. With L'Ermita, the meticulous work of Álvaro Palacios reaches its peak. Made with Garnacha Tinta from old vines over eighty years old and Cabernet Sauvignon from a very low production estate, we find a careful selection in all areas of winemaking. Aged for eighteen months in new French oak barrels, and rested in the bottle for several months. This is an exceptional wine, with a very limited production. It is a wine with a dark red colour, with a garnet rim, tending towards a high tartaric colour. It is made from 80% Garnacha, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Carignan and Garnacha Blanca. Predominance of ripe forest fruits and compote. Balanced and intense.Álvaro Palacios arrives in the Priorat, specifically in the town of Gratallops, with a group of local producers with the intention of transmitting in his wines all the character of this land, full of clear essences, Mediterranean sun, cliffs and slate, fennel and olive groves, a land with a mystical soul, with a past linked to the Carthusian monks, who developed the culture of the vine for more than six centuries. Its vineyards, old Garnacha vines, enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine, an annual rainfall of less than 380 mm, and the proximity of the sea, which gives it the coolness of the garbinada in summer.

'Cameos From a lace Cupboard' and a collection of manuscript correspondence. The correspondence reflects the anger caused to R&R by the Lace School for featuring in the national newspapers as 'Suppliers of Fine lace' in the making of the robes that Queen Mary was to wear during the coronation on 22nd June , 1911.'Our attention has been called to a notice in the newspapers that you are supplying laces for the Queen's coronation robes, This is, to say the least, premature and should certainly not have appeared without our consent , and we fear it will cause much annoyance to Her Majesty as the Queen very much objects to advertisement and it may cause serious loss to our business... Madame Rossiter is seriously considering cancelling the whole order'There are seven letters from R&R with a copy of a humble reply on the 15th January suggesting that the source of the complaint may have been the children at the school. Among other pieces of ephemera is a detailed hand written price list, with a rather charmingly posed group photograph of the school's teachers and pupils, with a partially complete list of those present. The spat seems to have subsided come April 3rd, Bertha Hawkins writes to R&R on Buckingham headed notepaper 'The Queen commands me to thank you very much indeed for so kindly letting her know about the Honiton sprigs: It is most interesting, but her majesty does not know what has become of Victoria's wedding lace and without it the sprigs would be of no use'Reville & Rossiter was a London Couture house who made gowns for Queen Mary.

Roman School (18th century), and probably workshop of Stefano PozziGalatea, after Raphaelred chalk on paper47 × 36cmProvenance:Private CollectionThe reverse bearing two paper labels, one inscribed with the story of Galatea and another, inItalian, identifying the work as a "copy of the original by Raphael d'UrbinoMade by [blank] with the assistance of Mr Stefano Pozzi 1755"The present lot likely originates from the Roman workshop of the painter Stefano Pozzi, who is mentioned on the reverse of the frame. At one point in his career Pozzi held the position of official painter of the Vatican, and also that of Custode delle Pitture, responsible for maintaining and restoring works in the Vatican collections, including the frescoes of Raphael's stanze, which means Pozzi was certainly intimately familiar with the master’s work. A small drawing of the Triumph of Galatea by Pozzi is in the art collection of the State of Maryland (acc. no. MSA SC 4680-13-0408), indicating that the artist certainly worked on this subject at least one other time.

Delta is proud to present a collection of spectacular limited edition writing instruments in honour of a brilliant historical figure. The Lira was originally called the Libra. It was the standard Roman measure of weight (325 grams or approximately 1 pound).Although Charlemagne transformed this into an abstract currency, it was Napoleon who envisioned a single currency for Europe. On 6 May 1807, Napoleon wrote to the King of Naples: "Brother, when you issue coins, I would like you to adopt the same valuations as in French money. In this way, there will be uniformity throughout Europe, which will be a great advantage to trade". The first Lira was minted at the Milan Mint in 1808.Napoleon's efforts to create a common European currency died with him on the battlefield. The lira became the national currency of Italy after unification in 1860. The recent demise of the lira marks the true unification of Europe and the realisation of Napoleon's dream. The fountain pens in this very special collection feature the first piston filling system in Delta's history.Delta fountain pens are handcrafted in Italy.
