A pair of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson burr oak stools, 1930s, each with an adzed and dished burr oak seat nailed to the octagonal legs, united by stretchers, each signed with a mouse signature to the leg, 40cm wide, 28cm deep, 37cm high Some splitting to the seat due to the nature of the timber. Minor knocks and wear. Otherwise a very solid and attractive pair, a small loss to one mouse ear. Robert Mouseman Thompson (1876-1955): An English Oak Hinged Box, carved SYLVIA to lid, with carved mouse trademark, 15cm wide, 11cm deep, 8cm highKen Almack (1932-2021) was born at Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe. Completed his apprenticeship at Kilburn under Robert Thompson. Did National Service in the army 1952-3, Pte Ken Almack Belle Isle Platoon, The Green Howards. Married Sylvia in 1957 at St.Mary's Church, Thirsk and Bob Hunter (Wrenman) was his bestman.
