ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON OAK DINING TABLE AND EIGHT CHAIRS, c.1960, the boat-shaped top on a refectory base with square fluted columnar standards, the chairs each with padded back and also with square fluted columnar legs joined by stretchers, with blue hide upholstery, each piece carved with a mouse. 72cm by 183cm by 90cm NOTE: This suite of furniture was commission for the Directors dining room of the TSB Bank circa 1960. The design has the unusual feature of fluted columnar legs.
RARE ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON OAK READING CHAIR, c.1920-30, with adjustable back and loose cushioned seat flanked by flattened arms terminating in scrolls, the sides with open slats resting on arched stretchers connecting massive block feet, fitted with an adjustable reading slide, carved with a mouse, adzed throughout. NOTE: This early design has several unusual features including open slats, reminiscent of the work of contemporary avant garde designers such as Frank Lloyd Wright.
