This is most evident to one end (additional image added). There are three or four areas of water damage which can be polished out. The supports appear sound. The feet are tired and in need of polishing.

Workshop of Robert Mouseman Thompson (Kilburn): An English Oak Chest of Drawers, two plank adzed top, above three banks of four drawers, each with wrought iron hoop handles, cross head screws, panelled ends, with recessed carved mouse trademark, 214cm wide, 62cm deep, 93cm highWaddington's Shop, Worksop, Notts, 1958.The top with some fading and splash marks. One noticeable fairly deep scratch to the front left-hand side (approximately 6cm long). Numerous other light surface scratches and paint splatters. Two or three minor fingernail-sized dents. The left-hand side has a replacement panel pinned to it - possibly done in construction (please see additional image and image of right-hand side for comparison). The front-left stile has an old chip to the bottom, which has now weathered into the character of the chest and does not detract from its value in our opinion. Otherwise a good sizeable chest.

Robert Thompsons Craftsmen found a black and white photograph of the 1920s table taken by Robert outside the workshop.
Robert Mouseman Thompson (1876-1955): An English Burr Oak Jar and Cover, by Fred Suffield, of cylindrical barrel form, the cover with carved mouse trademark, 17cm By repute from the estate of Fred Suffield.Fred Suffield worked at Robert Thompsons in the 1930's. He went on to work for the Pollard family (Bagby) in the 1960s and had his own trademarks of a Cat and later an Oak Leaf. He passed on in the 1970s.Please see further images on-line. Some wax infills because of the knots. Knot out on edge of cover - easier to open.
