Sucrier - minor dent on the widest part of the body, the marks good

AN INTERESTING GEORGE II EMBOSSED COFFEE POT of baluster form decorated with rocaille scrollwork & leaves with a cartouche on each side, depicting peasant figures & minerals, the cover with flower finial, by Frederick Vonham, London 1754; 10" (25.5 cms) high; 20.5 oz * This coffee pot body was made in two halves (vertically) & then seamed, and the form & method of decoration is unusual and one can only assume that Vonham was taught these practices in his homeland before he came to England. He entered his first mark as large worker on 22 December 1752 and Grimwade notes there was no record of his apprenticeship or Freedom. He probably originated from Germany or the Low Countries where this type of silverwork would have been more readily practised.
