A Two Day Marine chronometer by Louis Weule,Co, San Francisco, California for the Schooner 'San Sausalito':,the four inch silvered dial signed as per title and numbered '12025'. blue steel hands and secondaries, in a lacquered bowl case on a gimballed mount and in glazed mahogany case, ivorine plaque to front signed en suite, the case, 16.5 x 18 x 18.5cm, together with a Louis Weule log book for the San Sausalito passenger ship from San Francisco to Columbus River commencing December 10th 1915, Commanded by Captain Petersen, the log completed by 1st Mate JJ Carroll Carroll, also with copies of photographs and research material (2)*Notes- Built in 1903 in San Francisco the San Sausalito was a three masted schooner of 367 tons with a crew of seven. On December 27th 1915 at 4:00pm she dropped anchor in Neah Bay to shelter from a storm, In increasing winds she dragged her anchor and drifted onto the rocks of Waddah Island Wash, all passengers and crew were rescued. The last entry in the log for the 27th December notes that Captain Petersen and JJ Carroll were the last to leave the stricken ship before she struck the rocks and was broken into by the water in twenty minutes.
