The Exeter branch of the family included, amongst others, William Upjohn, baptised in 1754 and who moved to London in 1803; John Upjohn, born 1771, who married Maria Wittingham before moving to London, when on his return in 1803 he took over the premises of William before dying in 1848 'after a long and painful illness, borne with Christian fortitude'; their son Robert Wittingham Upjohn, also a chronometer maker born 1807, who took over from his father as keeper of the Exeter Cathedral clock where his initials can be found carved and dated 1824.
