A Regency inlaid mahogany bracket clock, Barraud, London, early 19th century. The unusual circular five pillar twin chain fusee bell striking movement with anchor escapement and pendulum with holdfast attached to the base of the case, the border engraved backplate signed BARRAUD, Cornhill, LONDON to a conforming oval cartouche, the 7 inch cream Roman numeral circular convex dial with repeat signature to centre and gilt spade hands within a convex glazed engine-turned brass bezel, the arch shaped case with hinged brass carrying handle above ebony edged front with scroll line bordered panel beneath dial, on moulded skirt base with brass ball feet, 40.5cm (16ins) high excluding handle. The current lot is probably by Paul Philip Barraud who is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as becoming a Liveryman of the Clockmakers` Company in 1796 and appointed Master in 1810. He is listed as a fine watch and chronometer maker who worked in partnership with W. Howells and G. Jamison for making Mudge`s timekeepers. He had two sons; Frederick Joseph (worked 1806-25), and John (worked from 1813), with whom he formed a partnership in 1811 which presumably lasted until his death in 1820.
A Regency brass mounted ebonised single pad-top bracket clock, Barraud, London, early 19th century. The five pillar twin chain fusee bell striking movement with anchor escapement and pendulum holdfast mounted on the backplate, the 8 inch circular convex white painted Roman numeral dial signed BARRAUD, LONDON to centre and with blued steel spade hands, the break-arch case with hinged carrying handle to the brass-edged pad top above front door applied with cast brass bezel with convex glass above fishscale frets to lower quadrants, the sides with conforming rectangular sound frets, on moulded base with brass bracket feet, (rear door lacking, case part-disassembled for restoration), 39cm (15.5ins) high excluding handle. A circa 1973 Stainless Steel cased ``Omega Seamaster Chronometer Speedsonic f300Hz`` gentleman`s wristwatch having Stainless Steel bracelet, the tuning fork ``Bulova Accutron`` type movement having stepless second hand movement with subsidiary dials including seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hour counter, sweep second hand and two windows at the three o`clock position indicating the day and date, the maatt black and gloss blue face having luminous batons at the 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 and 11 positions, the 12 jewelled movement numbered (1255) 38419089, model no. 188.0002. Appearing to be in full working order.
Daniel Ross, Exeter An 18ct gold open-faced pocket watch, the three-gold dial having blued steel spade hands, raised Roman numerals, floral decoration to the edge and engraved centre, the full-plate, chain fusee movement having a lever escapement with a plain balance, engraved backcock and signed to the backplate ‘Ross, Exeter. 503’, the case hallmarked for 18ct gold, London 1840 and stamped with the casemaker’s initials ‘C.M’, for Charles Muston, with engine-turned decoration to the rear & sides and further floral engraving to the sides, diameter: 40mm. * Daniel Ross is recorded as a watch, clock and chronometer maker at 31, High Street, Exeter from 1837 before moving to 230, High Street in 1855 and finally Bedford Street in 1859. He was blind for the last ten years of his working life and finally sold his stock to the clockmaker Ellis in 1864. Ross supplied the clock to Blundells Old School and there is a watch signed by him in the Royal Albert Museum, Exeter. * Charles Muston is recorded as working at 18, Red Lion Square, Clerkenwell, London from 1825.
Omega Seamaster, a gentleman’s 18ct gold chronometer wristwatch, the matt-gold dial having baton numerals and hands, a sweep seconds hand, day & date apertures and signed ‘Omega, Officially Certified Chronometer, Seamaster’, the gold back embossed with the Seamaster logo, the inside embossed with the Omega logo, mark for 18ct gold, case number ‘168023’, giving a date of manufacture of 1968, and model number ‘A88727’, the Omega bracelet stamped ‘750’ for 18ct gold, the movement stamped with the serial number ‘26199967’ and calibre number ‘751’ diameter: 38mm. With a red Omega box.
