This watch does not come with box or paperwork.This watch is running at the time of testing. The screw down crown sits flush, but is slightly stiff to undo. When pulled out to position two, the hour hand adjusts accordingly, and the seconds had continues to tick. When pulled out to position three, the hour, minute and GMT adjusts accordingly, and the seconds hand stops. The GMT hand cannot be set independently. the date window adjusts upon a 24hr rotation of the dial.Dial in good order, no cracks, chips or losses, no signs of damage or repair. Glass shows minimal scratching and wear, and is lacking the Omega symbol to centre, which may indicate that it is a later replacement. There are several short, deep scratches to the enamel bezel. Some small dents, moderate scratching and wear to the metal of the bezel. Case shows small dents to the edges, moderate scratching and wear. Central panel on the reverse is in good order, showing some scratching and wear, no cracks, chips, losses or repair. Strap shows some signs of light pulling between the links, and moderate scratching/wear. The folding clasp is in working order, opening smoothly and closing with a snap.

A two-day marine chronometer by Gowland in a brass-bound mahogany case, the chronometer mounted on a gimbal, the silvered dial signed 'G.H. & C. GOWLAND, Makers to the Admiralty, SUNDERLAND, No. 1931' and with state of wind and second subsidiary dials, the fusee movement with Harrison's maintaining power and detent escapement, the case with carrying handles and numbered plaque to the front, 18.3cm wide x 18.3cm deep and 19.6cm high.The case with marks and scratches due to use, the brass mounts somewhat oxidized, the lid marked, possibly from old stickers, The dial with minor oxidation, the movement going but not guaranteed, the movement with finger marks in the sides on the lacquer. Complete with winding key but no key for the case.

The two-tier box case with glass panel top, inset brass carrying handles, escutcheon, and stringing, 18cm square x 16.5cm highDial with tarnishing/rubbing mainly to the subsidiary seconds, not running and fully wound. Case missing the top lid, appears to be in its original finish with age related marks and patination, with a few scrapes, bumps and bruises. Missing disk from front.

Das Chronometer stammt ursprünglich aus einer hochfeinen Chronometersammlung und wurde damals bei Dr. Crott in Frankfurt für ca. 7.500€ verkauft. Interessantes, imposantes frühes Chronometer nach John Arnold, J. Johnson London No.1063, ca. 1795: Ca. Ø62mm, ca. 222g, guillochiertes Silbergehäuse, nummerngleich mit dem Werk 1063, ganz frühes, interessantes englisches Chronometerwerk nach John Arnold, Feder-Chronometer mit Diamantdeckstein und seltener Spirale, Platine signiert und nummeriert, Emaillezifferblatt (Krakelee im Randbereich), Goldzeiger, gangbar, Service empfohlen. Das Gehäuse dieser Uhr ist nummerngleich mit dem Werk und wurde definitiv für das Werk angefertigt, trägt aber keine englischen Hallmarks. Das Werk zeigt alte Reparaturspuren. Die Signatur zeigt eindeutig, dass es sich um John Johnson aus der Gray's Inn Passage handelt. Das Geschäft übernahm er 1775 nach dem Tod seines Vaters Thomas Johnson! Die Uhr war Bestandteil einer der bedeutendsten europäischen Chronometersammlungen.

Chronometer: nahezu neuwertiges Longines Tisch-Chronometer Ref. 6368 mit Stammbuchauszug: Nummerierte originale Holzbox, ca. 22,5 x 22,5 x 13,5cm, kardanische Aufhängung, verschraubtes Messinggehäuse, vergoldet, Werksverglasung, high-end Chronometerkaliber 24.99, Werksnummer identisch mit der Gehäusenummer, spezielle Feinregulierung, Glucydur-Chronometer-Unruh, versilbertes Zifferblatt mit Anzeige von 50-Stunden-Gangreserve, originale Zeiger, hervorragender, wenig benutzter Zustand, funktionstüchtig. Der Stammbuchauszug bestätigt die komplette Originalität dieses Chronometers, das in den 50er-Jahren gefertigt und 1961 verkauft wurde. Der Ahornsockel mit dem darauf montierten Chronometer lässt sich aus der Transportbox herausnehmen um es als Tischchronometer zu verwenden. Erstmals produziert wurde das Kaliber 24.99 im Jahr 1908, ein hochpräzises Werk, das an vielen Chronometerwettbewerben mit hervorragenden Ergebnissen teilnahm. Entworfen für den Einsatz in Beobachtungsuhren, ist es jedoch nicht nur von außerordentlicher Güte, sondern gilt auch als eines der schönsten Schweizer Uhrwerke überhaupt.

An Important Early 19th Century Mahogany Longcase Regulator, by Barwise of London, the 12ins diameter silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, with central seconds over hour dials, within outer minute track, blued steel hands, to the eight day single train movement with six heavy turned pillars, the back plate with end stops and jewelled palettes, the metal pendulum rod with mercury compensated pendulum bob, single brass cased weight, contained in figured mahogany case inlaid with ebony stringings, with arched hood, glazed trunk door, panelled base, on plinth support, 73ins high Note: John Barwise 'Chronometer, Watch & Clock Makers to their Royal Highnesses the Dukes of York, Kent, Cumberland & Gloucester' 29 St Martin's Lane, London. John Barwise was the son of a clockmaker from Cockermouth. He is recorded as working in London from circa 1790, a fine maker of clocks, chronometers and watches. In 1805 he was one of fifteen watchmakers selected by the board of Longitude to adjudicate in the dispute between Thomas Earnshaw and John Arnold. His sons, John II and Weston joined the firm and between 1819 and 1823 they traded as Barwise & Sons. Shortly after, the firm obtained a Royal Warrant as watchmakers to King George IV. John Barwise senior died in 1820. The business continued in the partnership of his sons, but Weston died in 1826, leaving it in the hands of John II alone.
