A Caughley custard cup circa 1778-92 transfer-printed in underglaze blue with the rare Garden Table pattern, circa 1778-92, Sx mark, 5.3cm high Literature: See Ironbridge 1999 no.304 and Newsletter June 2008 No.34 p.7. The Caughley Society newsletter article titled 'Gardens, Tables and Vases' distinguishes between the Garden Floral pattern which is 'painted and very rare' and The Garden Table pattern which is printed. A custard cup and cover in this pattern last sold at these for £480 as part of Maurice Wright's Collection in April 2017. Provenance: Roderick Jellicoe Exhibition no. 86.

A Caughley tea canister, lacking cover circa 1793 of shanked form, decorated in the overglaze enamel and gilt 'L'Amitie' pattern with associated border, a band of stylised leaves picked out in blue towards the shoulder, unmarked, 11cm high; together with a Caughley coffee cup and saucer in the same pattern (coffee cup with a hairline crack near the handle) (3)
A rare Caughley chocolate cup circa 1790 with flute-moulding to the lobed rim and a pronounced double scroll handle, decorated by the Chamberlain workshop with the crowned Royal Garter and motto 'Honi soit qui mal y pense', a border of gilt lozenges infilled with blue around the rim, swags of gilt husks tied with ribbons below, unmarked, 8cm high, 10cm diameter (repaired) The Chamberlain archives refer to a number of orders from Prince Frederick, Duke of York, the second son of King George III. This set was probably made to celebrate his forthcoming betrothal to Princess Frederica of Prussia.

A Caughley polychrome mug circa 1791 of plain cylindrical form, with double indented plain strap handle, decorated in overglaze enamel and gilt with a shield-shaped cartouche of purple flower heads, containing monogrammed initials highlighted in red enamel and two overglaze enamel doves traditionally associated with the 'L'Amitie' pattern above, gilt line edge and additional gilding to handle, unmarked, 8.7cm high (restored handle) Provenance: Ex. Willis and John Sandon Collections. Featured in Ironbridge 1999 Exhibition, no. 820 (addenda).

A rare Caughley black basalt cream jug circa 1780-90 of helmet form with pleated detail to body and acanthus-moulding to the handle, impressed 'SALOPIAN', 10.5cm high (handle repaired) Literature: See Caughley Newsletter January 2015 No.61 p.19f. There are probably no more than five or six pieces of Salopian black basalt known, making this an incredibly interesting and comparatively rare survivor.
