Vintage signed 3 x 4 photograph, a candid image of Montgomery standing in a three quarter length pose, wearing his beret and overcoat, in the doorway of an official building. Signed ('Montgomery of Alamein F.M.') in blue fountain pen ink across a clear area of the image. With some (partially deleted) ink annotations and date, London 1947, to the verso, apparently largely in the hand of Sergeant Eddie Miles ('Orderly to F.M. Montgomery of Alamein'). VG

ROBERT R.TURNER ROYAL TANK REGIMENT WORLD WAR II. Excellent photograph Album, papers and Tank Corps beret etc. The album is particularly well compiled and captioned, with excellent tank images in the Western Desert in 1941/42. Robert’s troop had Shermans and these are well illustrated, his tank displaying the name “Warspite”. One image shows a German truck draped in a Swatstika. He then is transferred to Burma and includes a series of very clear and well captioned photographs of Chinese troops with them in Burma (1942). Later he serves in Italy 44/45 having landed at Taranto, another very good image of a “Sherman Dozer” c.150 Military photographs plus a number of tourist cards and photographs. A particularly good Album with some nice additional items.
dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Kingdom of Italy Blue cloth jacket with red outlines, sleeves with red stripe, shoulders with padded border featuring outlines and the number "31" embroidered in white, collar with sewed border of silver thread and relieved, white fabric stars; smooth, metallic buttons; lined with brown and black fabric. Light blue cloth with red outlines, partially lined. A kepi of black cloth with red outlines (damaged visor), with fabric lining and leather sweatband. A dark cloth beret with red outline, button, and a star-shaped emblem of red cloth with the number "31"; at the inside sweatband and waxed fabric (defects at the visor). Small defect due to use. For a nc-officer of the Umberto period. dimensions: height giacca circa 73 cm.

A good vintage signed 3.5 x 5.5 photograph by Montgomery, the image depicting the Field Marshal standing in a full length pose, wearing his beret, alongside two American Major Generals, both wearing their uniforms and helmets. All three stand outdoors on the steps of a building. The official War Office photograph is marked B13172 and dated 28th December 1944 to the verso. Signed ('B. L. Montgomery, Field Marshal') by Montgomery in bold, dark fountain pen ink to a clear area at the base of the image. About EX
MONTGOMERY B. L.: (1887-1976) British Field Marshal of World War II. A good vintage signed and inscribed 10.5 x 10 photograph of Monty standing in a full length pose, wearing his beret, at the side of a memorial. Signed in bold turquoise fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount, 'To: Dr. Cook, with my best wishes for Christmas and for 1951, Montgomery of Alamein, Field Marshal' and dated Christmas 1950 in his hand. Montgomery has additionally identified the image to the upper photographer's mount, 'Memorial of the German surrender on Luneburg Heath, 4/5 May 1945'. Professionally matted in black and framed and glazed in a silver coloured frame to an overall size of 15 x 15. An historic and desirable signed photograph. VG
