Immediate post WW2 German made British Army Parachute Regiment Beret & badge. German made (tagged MITIN) wool beret, with nickel parachute regiment K.C. badge, with black backing. Interior shows removed makers tag and leather reinforced section to back of badge. Size approx. 56/57. Most likely worn by occupation troops with North Germany late 1940’s.
WW2 Parachute Regiment Officers Beret Badge & Collar Badge Set, fine quality example officers frosted silver beret badge with two lug fittings to the reverse. Accompanied by a matching set of frosted silver facing pair of tunic collar badges. All have stamped to the reverse “P” which is often found on badges made by Gaunt. Very good condition set. Scarce WW2 Indian Parachute Regiment Beret Badge, fine Indian produced brass example with chrome plated finish applied. Complete with the two lug fittings to the reverse. This actual badge is featured on page 188 of the reference book, “Airborne Insignia Volume 2 – Britain and her Allies in Exile” by Oliver Lock.
EIIR Hallmarked Silver Parachute Regiment Officers Cap Badge, fine example with hallmarks for Edinburgh 1997, makers mark “CB”. Complete with two lug fittings to the reverse. Accompanied by a bullion embroidered on maroon beret badge with A R Fabb Bros Ltd, Maidenhead, Berks makers label to the reverse. (2 items)
3x Variations of EIIR Parachute Regiment Beret Badges, consisting example on tartan backing cloth as worn by members of the 15th (Scottish) battalion Parachute Regiment, example on battalion colours of the Gurkha Independent Parachute Company and blackened anodised example as worn in Northern Ireland. All remain in good condition. (3 items)
Rare WW2 Free French Paratroopers Beret, very scarce original black armoured corps pattern beret which were worn by Free French paratroopers with the white metal parachute regiment cap badge having the crown and lion removed. The beret is made by Kangol Wear and remains of the 1944 date can be seen. Stitched leather panel behind blackened brass vents. Size stamped 6 3/4. Generally a good condition example. Details of these berets can be seen on pages 32-35 of the reference book, “Airborne Insignia Volume 2 – Britain and her Allies in Exile” by Oliver Lock.
1945 Dated Artists Rifles Airborne Maroon Beret, fine example with leather trim, tan cloth lining with white inked size stamp “7 1/8” and “KANGOL WEAR LIMITED” makers mark. Broad arrow stamp with 1945 date. Beret has white metal stitched Artists Rifles cap badge. Interior stamped with WD broad arrow stamp and date letter “Z” (1945). Leather backed brass gromet vents. Some areas of moth tracking to the top.
1958 Special Air Service Officers Beret, interesting beige beret made by Kangol. Bullion embroidered officers beret badge to the front. Remains of date, which appears to be 1958. The beret has inked name to the tan lining, “SIMPSON”. Some minor moth spots to the exterior but generally very good condition. We believe their to be a number of officers with the name Simpson at the time of the beret being issued.
1960’s Attributed Special Air Service (S.A.S) Beret by Herbert Johnson, fine example of the beige beret worn by the regiment. Cloth embroidered winged dagger regimental beret badge. Tan cloth lining with spiral stitching and Herbert Johnson tailors diamond. Underside of the beret interior front tab is inked with original owners name, “O’Toole”. Generally very good condition showing just light service wear. We have only been able to find one member of the regiment with this name at the time period of this beret, 23820162 Trooper Patrick Colm O’Toole served with “A” Squadron (1 Troop) who drowned during a canoeing exercise near Castle Martin training area off the coast of South Wales. He is buried at Hereford cemetery.
Rare Early WW2 Pattern Special Air Service Parachute Qualification Wing and Beret Badge, very good set which show all the characteristics of the early theatre made items of insignia worn by the regiment. The wing with lilac centre and black cloth detailing. Marks to the reverse where press studs have once been present. The beret badge shows clear evidence of removal from a beret and is typical in style of early examples. Both show fading and wear. The current vendor acquired the set together and it is believed they were issued to the same man. Details of the original owner are sadly not known.

A collection militaria relating to the KOSB (The Kings Own Scottish Borders Regiment) comprising a of collection of medals: the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence medal, the 1939-45 War medal, two further medals relating to Korea, one inscribed "CAPT.A.M.G.S FORBES.K.O.S.B", two buttons a green beret inscribed "Hawkes & Co. Limited" and hand-written "M Forbes" to the interior and a further hat, together with a ceremonial sword, the blade inscribed "AMGSF" "Wilkinson Sword Co Limited London" and initialled with King's cypher, housed in a leather scabbard, together with an alternative metal scabbard, a bone handled Indian knife and various books on the same regiment CONDITION REPORTS Sword Serial No. to the back edge of the blade by the hilt - "66996". back of korea united nations meadl says" for service in defence of the principles of the charter of the united nations". See images for further detail. Ref. naming on the Korea medal - the bar is inscribed "Korea", reverse of the medal is inscribed "For Service in Defence of the Principles of The Charter of The United Nations". Otherwise no inscription.
