Also with this lot is a copy of 'Gliding into War' by Ian & Celia Toler, signed by the author, collection of research regarding Major Toler's war service.
Royal Armoured Corps WW2 Officer's 1942 Birmingham hallmarked silver beret badge. A fine example by JRG&S (JR Gaunt and Sons). Mailed fist with billet 'RAC'; issuing from the wrist upwards, two concentric circles, barbed; the whole surmounted with a Crown. Three loops to reverse. VGC Formed in April 1939. Worn on the black beret.
Army Air Corps WW2 Officer's 1941/1942 Birmingham hallmarked silver beret badge. A good die-cast example by JRG&S (JR Gaunt & Sons). Crowned laurel wreath; voided centre bearing eagle atop pierced 'AAC' scroll, its wings extending over and beyond the wreath. Three stout loops to reverse replaced by brooch pin. VGC 1941 Birmingham date letter R did not change until June 1942.
