This rare Ayrton Senna 1974 Signed and Used Karting Helmet is a remarkable piece of motorsport history. A small-sized ‘Bell Star’ helmet, it dates back to Senna’s karting days in 1974. The helmet is signed and dedicated by Senna himself to his former karting mechanic, Diego Mombelli, and was signed at Imola in 1984.Inside the helmet, a unique label reveals an address and blood type, marked with Senna’s surname at the time, "Da Silva," as well as his blood type, B+.The helmet shows considerable signs of age. Over the years, it has undergone sanding and repainting, preserving its authenticity while displaying the wear and tear. Notably, the inscription on the top of the helmet was initially covered by deteriorating yellowing Scotch tape but has now been uncovered to reveal Senna’s direct writing, showcasing his distinct signature style. The signature features his signature mix of upper and lowercase letters, a trademark of his handwriting from that era.A fascinating and meaningful piece of memorabilia, making it a must-have for any serious motorsport collector.
