1965 Heinkel Tourist 103 A2Reg. no. HLH 721CFrame no. UnknownEngine no. 607793The Heinkel Tourist was manufactured in Germany between 1953 and 1965 by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke. 170,000 scooters were produced. It benefitted from several improvements during this time, and this version, the 103 A2 is the most recent to be made. Described as the ‘Rolls- Royce of scooters’, it benefitted from a 174cc four stroke engine, electric start and other features to give greater comfort, stability and reliability than many other scooters of the time. This scooter was purchased in 2013 from a dealer and is understood to have benefitted from a total restoration some years earlier. Since then it has been in intermittent use and has performed well. The paintwork, though not immaculate, is good for its age. The electrics are fine, except that the handlebar switches for horn and headlight dipping don’t function properly. The correct Heinkel windscreen is fixed in place, and a top box which can be swapped with the spare wheel and luggage rack is separately included, as is the user’s manual.
