A good Geo Vth Naval officer’s dirk, blade 17¾” by Gieve, Matthews & Seagrove, well etched with crown, fouled anchor, Royal Arms, cypher and foliage, gilt mounts. Lion’s head pommel, copper wire bound white fishskin covered grip, in its gilt metal mounted leather sheath with spring catch, the top chape engraved with owner’s initials “A.J.C.C.” with bullion dress knot. A scarce .22” Pope all metal air pistol, 12” overall, brass barrel 11”, number 4884, the air chamber plug stamped “Pope Bros. USA”, and patent dates, the butt drilled for wire butt, traces of nickel plating overall, WO & GC (steel parts pitted); and a scarce .177” Hubertus air pistol, the frame stamped “DRGM/Hubertus/Germany”, number 2253. WO & generally GC (some major restoration). (2)
An African Kuba machete, decorated blade 19”, with wooden hilt, QGC (heavily corroded, hilt damaged); a Mongo club knife with 15” cresent ended blade and wooden hilt, Generally GC; and a Malay short sword, the 16” blade with raised inscriptions for its entire length, the carved horn hilt partly covered with metal foil, in its scabbard. Same tsuba with finely wrought iron binding in imitation of tape, iron fuchi kashira chiselled with mountains and pagoda with soft metal details, gilt shakudo menuki as Samurai. Iron tsuba chiselled as a catfish swallowing its tail. Saya with copper bands (one missing), over fine fishskin covering with large iron kojiri. GC (small piece of sharkskin missing). A rare Britains metal knights in armour set 1307, 3 mounted knights with lances at ready, and 6 foot knights in full armour, standing with lances held in right hands, tied onto original packing card in red paper covered box with monochrome scene to lid, minor wear to box edges and corners, 3 figures overwritten on lid. Figures mint.
2 scarce mounted Timpo knights of the Round Table, Sir Gareth black and yellow quarted shield, yellow/black cloak, black horse yellow blanket black stripes and reins; and The Green Knight green breast and backplate, brown horse with green blanket white trim and reins; both figures have full plumes and helmet visors, metal lance with Sir Gareth only; both in original boxes but 1 associated mainly minor wear but small tears to creases of flaps and age colouring. Knights VGC to Mint (but green knight has lost shield and lance) (See lot 104 for illustration).
