Of Boer War Interest, a wood model of a Boer Wagon, with a cloth hood, with metal clad wheels, 40cm high 51cm longProvenance: Surgeon Vice-Admiral Sir James Porter (1851-1935), thence by descent.Porter became a surgeon in the Navy in 1877 and after service abroad joined the Scout, Mediterranean Station, from 1889 to 1892. He then served at Bermuda Dockyard. In 1896 he was Staff Surgeon in the Britannia and in 1897 went to the Doris, flagship at the Cape of Good Hope, and was promoted to Fleet Surgeon there in 1898. Between 1899 and 1900 Porter was Principal Medical Officer to the Naval Brigade in South Africa and afterwards received special promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Hospitals and Fleets. Condition ReportOld worn holes present. Cloth hood worn and with tears.

A five stone graduated old cut diamond ring, total approx 1.25ct in a claw set mount on a yellow metal loop stamped 18ct, size L & approx 2.9g Condition report: All diamonds are old cuts, bright and lively with only a few small inclusions visible under a loupe. Central diamond good, all are nice colour not drawing, some nibbling to facet edges and girdles and some girdles are uneven possibly due to wear. Ring in generally good condition for age with intact claws and minimal wear to mount but some wear to shank
A yellow metal band ring having an inset baguette cut red/orange stone, possibly a garnet in a collared mount, size P & approx 2.1g The stone has been observed under the Spectoscope and the spectrum/absorption band results point towards the stone being a garnet of orange colour.
A Victorian diamond navette ring having twenty six stones of various sizes totalling approx 1.5ct in a pave setting with raised central panel on a yellow metal loop stamped 18ct, size R & approx 5.4g Condition report: Good overall condition. Some general surface wear consistent with use and age. Diamonds secure in settings. Chip to central diamond on panel and some small chips to side diamonds visible under 10x loupe but does not take away from overall appearance.
