A George III mahogany octagonal snap top occasional table, with twist column and three slender downswept legs terminating in ball feet. Width 14.25 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This table is in generally very good condition. The top is of good colour and flat with no significant damage. There have been some minor repairs to the cockbeading around the edge of the table but these do not detract. The snap action works as it should. The turned column does have old stress cracks but is structurally solid. The legs are in good condition with no significant damage. There is a metal bracing hoop underneath the centre boss which is a later structural aid. The centre boss again has old stress cracks and fractures but the table does not require any work prior to use other than a clean.
A pair of late 19th/early 20th century Continental narrow chests of drawers, satinwood banded and with moulded edge above five drawers with brass drop handles with ribbon backplates, flanked by canted angles and with metal mounts and raised on short cabriole legs terminating in sabot feet. Width 14.5 ins (see illustration).
An Edwardian mahogany Chippendale style desk, with metal gallery to the rectangular top and fitted with a series of blind fretwork carved drawers and raised on cabriole legs terminating in lions paw feet. Width 48.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This desk is in need of some restoration. The brass gallery is intact and all present but a little dirty. The red tooled leather writing surface requires replacement as much of this is missing. Otherwise the top of the desk is flat and in good order. All of the drawer fronts are a little tatty particularly around the lock escutcheons. There are no major losses to the blind fretwork but some small areas are chipped and have lost their top stain. There is some loss to the applied foliate scrollwork around the centre panel of the long drawer. The legs are all original and in good structural condition simply a little dirty. The side panels and back panel are in good order and the interiors of all the drawers are in good condition
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, by George Innes of Glasgow, with circular dial and well figured mahogany case raised on bracket feet. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small section of veneer missing to one of the rounded corners on the pediment. The remainder of the hood is in good order. The trunk door is in good condition and not warped. The base of the clock is similarly in good order. There are some minor scuffs around the bracket feet as one would expect. The movement is reasonably clean and we have the weights and pendulum. We have not had the clock operating as the small metal strip at the top of the pendulum is missing. The clock face is in original condition with strong colours and some minor surface scratches but no significant issues. Both the strike mechanism and going mechanism operate when weight is applied to the pulleys suggesting that with the minor repair to the top of the pendulum the clock is likely to run.
A Continental porcelain egg shaped lidded vase, handpainted with lilies. Height 12.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The lid of the vase has been broken and repaired. The finial is being held on by a metal gilt coloured collar and it appears that the bottom of the vase has been broken in to a number of pieces. This is only slightly visible from the top. The base is in very good order with minor rubbing tot the gilt towards the foot. Generally this vase is in very good order.
A solitaire diamond ring, in white coloured metal shank, size J (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in generally good condition. The shank is very slightly worn but not significantly. The claws are in good condition and the stone is not loose on its mount. We do not have the facility to accurately measure the stone but our guess would be that it is between .6 and .7 of a carat. This is an approximation. The diameter across the top of the stone is approx 6 mm. We do not have the facility to provide the clarity details that you require. The stone is fairly clear but we can see inclusions within the stone when viewed under a loop. The ring is probably approx 30 years old.
A solitaire diamond ring, each shoulder set with three small diamonds to white gold coloured metal mount, hallmarks rubbed, size N/O (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The stone does have an inclusion which is visible with the use of a loop. We do not have the clarity of the stone. The ring is extremely dirty underneath the claws. The diameter of the stone is approx 7 mm. The shank is in generally good condition however there is discolouration at the base suggesting that the ring has been resized (larger). The 18 stamp is quite worn but legible. We are not sure about the age of the ring however it must be at least 50 years old.
A late Victorian gilt metal bangle, in the Aesthetic style, the silver metal overlay inset with a single star set pearl. CONDITION REPORT: The bangle is in generally good condition. The hinge is sound and secure and the clasp mechanism closes tightly as it should. There are some minor surface marks and scratches to the bangle but nothing of any serious note.
A sapphire and diamond cluster ring, rubover set, circa 1930, yellow gold coloured metal shank, hallmark rubbed, size N/O (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in generally good order. The shank is not significantly worn. There is some dirt behind the stones however the overall impression is that of a bright ring. Looking at the stones under a loop the sapphire have numerous top surface scratches. The diamonds are generally unmarked.
A sapphire and diamond five stone ring, with yellow gold coloured metal shank, hallmark rubbed, size P/Q (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ring shank is in generally good condition. The ring is extremely dirty and requires a good clean. The stones are not loose in their settings but many of the claws are bent out of shape. All stones have surface scratches, marks and minor chips.
A late 19th century Continental gilt metal mounted cut crystal decanter, with peacock stopper. Height 12 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This lot is in very good order with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. There is some tarnishing to the gilt metal but no significant issues. The glass hobnail cut sides are generally in good order with only a few very minor surface chips to a few of the hobnail cut tops.
A large Victorian brass and steel fire grate, with integral fire dogs. Width 44 ins, height 33 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The principal issue with this fire basket is simply that it requires a good clean. The brass integral dogs are in good condition as is the pierced fretwork front. There do not appear to be any breaks or losses. The metal frame does not have any breaks across the serpentine front and the fire basket itself is in generally good condition although fairly rusty. The brass finials to left and right are in good order. The fire bricks inside are partially later replacements and really require replacing and/or sorting out. The metal sides of the piece are in good order as is the fire back and rear legs. As stated, it really only requires a good clean.
A late Victorian metal chandelier, all later wiring removed. Height 31 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The chandelier has had all of the wiring removed. The gilding is only partially present and the piece is generally tarnished in all areas. There do not appear to be any significant losses however one of the candelabra branches is broken at the knop at the bottom of the arch. This has already been repaired but requires a further repair. It looks as if the branch next to this on the same side has also had a repair which is currently still holding fast.
A metal five branch chandelier, with ten lights, in the Rococo style. Diameter approximately 26 ins, height approximately 27 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chandelier appears to be in generally good order. The gilding is generally crisp and bright with only very minor losses. There do not appear to be any losses to the metalwork or any damage. It is difficult to date the piece however the wiring runs alongside the metalwork rather than through the centre. However we do not think that the chandelier is pre electricity. From the nature of the castings and screws we would have thought second half 20th century.
A small Japanese enamelled vase, orange, bearing character marks to base. Height 4 ins. CONDITION REPORT: We have had a good look at this vase with a magnifying glass and cannot see any damage to the main body of the vase. The top metal lip to the vase has a small dent and where this lip folds round on to the top of the neck there appear to be some small losses. This is right underneath the rim and difficult to see.
