A FRENCH MAHOGANY, DECORATED AND GILT METAL MOUNTED VITRINE of D-shaped outline, surmounted by a panel of rouge variegated marble with a pierced gallery and tassel hung drapery edge enclosed by a central glazed panel door with painted panel below depicting male and female figures in a garden landscape, flanked by a country landscape panel to either side, on cabriole legs, terminating in gilt foliate sabots, 67cm (2ft 21/2in) wide, 139.5cm (4ft 7in) high, Early 20th Century.

Turkish embroidered oval mat, embroidered in silk and dichromatic silver-gilt metal thread on cotton ground with silver-gilt metal tassels on cotton foundations. Probably Brusa, late 19th-early 20th century, 23in. x 16.5in. 58.5cm. x 42cm.. Slight stain, some tassels missing. And five border fragments from a çevre, four corner floral medallions, possibly from a çevre and one end of a yaglik. The first nine fragments all embroidered in silk with silver thread (the first five on orange-yellow silk core) on fine muslin grounds, Brusa, west Anatolia, late 18th-early 19th century, the yaglik end embroidered in silk on linen, Brusa, late 19th century. The two groups of çevre fragments are not from the same piece; note the fine black netting on the verso of the floral medallions. Sold as a collection with all faults, not subject to return.
Three pairs of Chinese embroidered silk slippers, one with raised white painted wood platforms and applied stitched leather soles, the cream silk surround with satin stitch embroidery and gilt metal brocade and appliqued embroidered silk toe caps; the second with raised white lacquered leather soles, the embroidered silk surround with double appliqued toe caps of purple silk overlaid with black velvet panels in cloud band form with gilt metal brocaded toes; the third pair with thick white lacquered leather soles, the eau-de-nil silk damask surround with triple appliqued velvet toe caps in alternating black and brown velvet with longevity symbols at toes. A Chinese (?) copper and shagreen flask, second half 19th century, length 7.5in. 19cm. And a Chinese polished metal mirror, inset into embroidered silk surround, the reverse brocaded with gilt metal, and with applied silk and gold thread tassels. Second half 19th century, 4in. x 3in. 10cm. x 7.5cm.
A rare Chinese Manchu summer court hat, the conical body of stiffened cotton covered in loosely woven linen and with a cotton lining and interior plaited straw skull-cap, the exterior embellished with a large silk tassel with elaborate clear glass and metal finial denoting fifth rank. Last quarter 19th century, diam. of rim and approx. height 9in. 23cm. And another hat tassel, with fifth rank clear glass and gilt metal finial, last quarter 19th century.
Pair of Chinese Fifth military rank badges, each depicting a snarling bear in couched and silver and gilt metal brocade with vari-coloured silk cores and silk satin-stitch eyes and coral bead suns all on a brown silk grounds. End of the 19th century, each 10.5in. x 11in. 26.5cm. x 28cm. Four coral beads missing from one badge. Each laid down and mounted on wood stretchers. And a fifth civil rank badge, depicting a silver pheasant, unusually embroidered in silk in French knot and couched gilt metal brocade on a black satin ground. Second half 19th century, 11in. x 11.5in. 28cm. x 29cm. One of the pair and the single rank badges are from the front of costumes and therefore woven in two equal pieces joined down the centre.
Three large Chinese Doaist wedding banners, all three with eight figures or groups each carrying one of the emblems of Doaism, the first with peach satin ground embroidered in silk and metal brocade, 220in. x 28in. 557cm. x 71cm., the second with crimson satin ground embroidered with silk and metal brocade and with applied metal 'pearl' bosses, 228 x 44in. 599cm. x 112cm., the third on a green wool felted ground with silk and wool embroidery and metal brocade, 174 in. x 22in. 442cm. x 56cm.
