A life saving group of three medals to officer W H Roberts, SS Lord Erne, Belfast the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society medal, Shipwrecked Fisherman and Mariners Royal Benevolent Society medal and the Lloyds silver medal all in boxes of issue, with a silver cup inscribed 'Presented by the Canadian Government to William Hunter Roberts, First Officer of the SS Lord Erne in acknowledgement of his services to the shipwrecked crew of the SS Percesien of Quebec 9th February 1918', the cup by George Howson, London 1913, 17cm high, 18oz, with a photograph, cuttings and other ephemera Chief Officer Roberts was one of five crew of The Lord Erne, along with Chow Mac and a number of Chinese sailors who volunteered to go to the aid of crew of the rapidly sinking SS Percesien in a stormy North Atlantic and rescued that crew successfully
