A JAPANESE WOOD AND METAL NETSUKE, 19TH CENTURY Depicting a miniature matchlock pistol, the iron barrel decorated with scrolling vines and flower mon in gold nunome zogan and set into a wood stock, the hammer decorated with a cherry floret at the hinge, with a ring to the underside, unsigned, 6.4cm. Original one piece oiled walnut grips in good condition (some handling wear). Rebated 6-shot cylinder creeping under barrel hammer. Barrel 8" (small bulge to R.H. side of barrel) Brass trigger guard. Patinated steel finish with no pitting. Full clear address "Address Col. Sam l Colt New.York.U.S.America". Cylinder and backstrap cut for shoulder stock. Government inspectors marks and 'Colts Patent' to frame. In good working order with a tight lock up and crisp action. An excellent example of this iconic Civil War and Western Revolver. No licence required.
