A group of loose cut peridots, citrines and aquamarines, the circular cut peridots 2 - 4mm diameter, 0.64 gms gross (3.21 carats), the pendeloque, oval and heart cut citrines 6-8mm, 4.6 gms gross (23 carats), and the two pendeloque cut aquamarines each 5mm length, 0.08 gms (.43 carat) VAT will be added to the hammer on this lot.
A quantity of loose polished gemstones including an oval citrine, 15.23 ct, an amethyst 8.09 ct and a smokey quartz 22.78 ct. Total weight approx 83.8 ct. VAT will be added to the hammer on this lot. A scarce French 20 bore Model 1842 naval percussion belt pistol, 11¾” overall, barrel 6¾”, the tang engraved “Mle. 1842”, the back action lock engraved “Mre Rle de Chatellerault”, the walnut halfstock with brass mounts, 4½” belt hook on left side, lanyard ring on butt cap, and swivel ramrod, the butt cap stamped with small anchor mark, the breech, barrel band and butt all numbered 2224. GWO & C, with age patina overall (hammer spur missing, patch of surface wear to butt). Plate 8
A 6 shot 160 bore self cocking bar hammer percussion pepperbox revolver, 6¾” overall, barrels 2¼” with Birmingham proofs, with scroll engraved rounded frame and trigger guard and finely chequered walnut grips. Good Working Order and Condition, with some dark patina (pitting to butt strap); in a non original fitted blue baize lined oak box, the lid has reproduction instruction label, containing an embossed brass flask, steel pincer ball mould, cap tin and a pricker (wear overall). A 38 bore percussion travelling pistol, c 1840, 8½” overall, sighted heavy octagonal barrel 4¼” with platinum line at breech, the flat stepped lock of flintlock form, with safety bolt and traces of name “J. Evans” in script, the walnut fullstock having rounded chequered butt with vacant escutcheon, engraved steel trigger guard, and throat pipe. GWO & generally GC (slightly worn, the butt has been fractured and repaired, hammer and ramrod replaced).
A 10 bore East India Company percussion musket, c 1840, 55” overall, sighted barrel 39” with London proofs and EIC viewer’s marks for 1840-41, the transitional type flat lock with rampant lion and viewer’s marks, the walnut fullstock with brass mounts including Baker rifle type spurred trigger guard, fore end cap with no provision for bayonet catch, sling swivels and original steel ramrod. GWO & C (hammer spur missing, light wear commensurate with age)
A 5 shot 70 bore Bentley type open frame self cocking percussion revolver, 9½” overall, octagonal barrel 5” with Birmingham proofs, rammer on left side, and butterfly bolt securing the barrel to the frame; the frame with removable sideplate, the frame and trigger guard having scroll engraved decoration, the hammer with Bentley’s patent thumb safety catch; with chequered two piece walnut grips. Good Working Order and Clean Condition, barrel retaining much original blued finish, faint hints of colour hardening. Plate 54

A 6 shot 80 bore open wedge frame self cocking percussion revolver, 9” overall, octagonal barrel 4½” with Birmingham proofs and plunger type rammer below; cylinder with engraved border, chambers numbered 1 to 6; frame having a removable side plate to which is attached the spring safety catch, the frame, hammer and trigger guard with scroll engraving; with finely chequered two piece walnut grips. Colt Model 1860, .44 Calibre Army Service Revolver serial number 106490 for manufacture in 1863. Serial No. suggests possible issue to company M 5th Iowa Volunteer Casualty in 1863. All matching numbers including the barrel wedge. Good clear cylinder scene of the battle between the Texas and Mexican navies. Original one piece oiled walnut grips in good condition (some handling wear). Rebated 6-shot cylinder creeping under barrel hammer. Barrel 8" (small bulge to R.H. side of barrel) Brass trigger guard. Patinated steel finish with no pitting. Full clear address "Address Col. Sam l Colt New.York.U.S.America". Cylinder and backstrap cut for shoulder stock. Government inspectors marks and 'Colts Patent' to frame. In good working order with a tight lock up and crisp action. An excellent example of this iconic Civil War and Western Revolver. No licence required.
Revolver: A cased five shot 54 bore Deane Adams & Deane pattern 1851 self cocking percussion revolver. Octagonal barrel 6", spurless hammer. Acanthus engraving to frame & 'ADAMS PATENT 30643B'. Top flat engraved 'DOOLEY H RANELAGH St LIVERPOOL' Good working order, metalwork with traces of original blue, metal surface stained not pitted. In its walnut case with circular escutcheon. Trade label for William Dooley inside lid. Accessories: copper pistol flask by James Dixon, Sheffield, brass bullet mould, cleaning rod with jag & sundry lead bullets. A good original lot. (no key to case)
Revolver: A six shot, bar hammer, Pepperbox revolver. British proof marks to the 6. 3.5" barrels. Acanthus scrolling to the hammer & sideplates. Virtually all original fading blue finish. Good working order and condition. In its fitted case with WM Dooley of Liverpool trade label. Included is a small copper pistol flask. No key to box.
