An approximate 5 bore 30" single barrel percussion 'Big Game' rifle by Joseph Lang fitted with a visually attractive stock having the appearance of Burr Walnut. The thumb tip of the hammer has been removed and there are very small segments of wood missing by the lock and on its opposite side of the stock. Its overall condition however is good. A gilt silver filigree mandala in the shape of a temple on a Zitan wooden standChina, Qing dynastyIn the structure formed by the complex lacework on four main levels, it is possible to notice an intricate interplay of small human and animal figures in a procession around the building. The lower level, with a circular base, is characterized by an embossed vegetal decoration with insertions in blue cloisonné, while in the higher level, a lacework vajra end sticks out from each of the four sides of the mandala. The small pagoda at the top is surrounded by fluttering banners. Worthy of notice is the fine lacework characterizing the whole item, and the exquisite working of the base in precious hardwood. The inside includes a title page with similar decorations, but with the addition of red; 168 leaves, of which two (first and last) are empty, and one presents a small cut, framed by a silver circular decorative line. Above his halo is the benevolent monster Cheppu and some sea chimeras, Makara. At the base of the draped throne are two small miniatures depicting Palden-Ilamho, on the right, and Mahakala, on the left. The outer frame is ornate with stylized clouds in relief on a red background.
