Designer Fortuny (1871-1949) Five rare vintage early/mid 20th century Fortuny Italian curtains, red and cream lined and interlined printed cotton in classical 'Corone' pattern. Fortuny was renowned for his innovative printing techniques using natural dyes to produce distinctive designs. One pair width across gathered heading 60cms, length 150cms, plus three curtains width across gathered heading 75cms, length 280cms, all approximate measurements. Also five tie backs.Provenance: Originally purchased in Venice, then current owner purchased these curtains from a large house sale in Boston Massachusetts in 1980's.Condition commensurate with age, one curtain has some water damage on the lower section of approx 12 inches. A pair of handmade bottle green, antique style velvet, lined and interlined curtains, with matching covered pelmet board: Curtains: rufflette gathered heading, interlined and lined with gold fabric (possibly viscose acetate), trimmed on both sides and to the bottom edge with a handmade 8 cm border appliquéd in a simplistic acanthus design in gold fabric, similar fabric to lining (225 cm H x 270 cm W overall); Pelmet: covered with matching bottle green velvet and two parallel horizontal bands of matching border design, no track (177cmW x 30cmH x 15cmD, front panel only, no side panels).  Condition: Fabric has significant sun fade in places, damage to face fabric and borders, and damage, marks and sun fade to lining.  We have been told that these are from a company called English Home, however we cannot find any further information about this business.  ,
