MILNE A. A.: (1882-1956) English Author, creator of Winnie-the-Pooh. Autograph Envelope, unsigned, being the front panel only, addressed in Milne's hand to his wife, 'Mrs. A. A. Milne', at Cotchford Farm in Hartfield, Sussex. Postmarked at Chelsea, 10th April 1929. Accompanied by an A.L.S., Daphne Milne, by Milne's wife, Dorothy 'Daphne' de Selincourt (1890-1971), one page, 8vo, Cotchford Farm, Hartfield, Sussex, 7th March n.y. (1956), to [Arnold] Brierley. Milne asks 'Will this do?' and continues 'If you liked you could cut off the “Mrs”.', concluding by thanking her correspondent for their sympathy. The envelope panel is very slightly irregularly torn at the edges and has a small rust stain to the lower left corner, not affecting the text. About VG, 2 Cotchford Farm was purchased by Milne as a country retreat in 1925 and the author wrote all of his Winnie-the-Pooh stories there. Milne died there in 1956 and the property was later to be owned by The Rolling Stones band member Brian Jones who drowned in the outdoor swimming pool at the property in July 1969.

Conditions vary overall good.
