THE ROLLING STONES - 1964 Tower Ballroom Concert Poster - A poster for a concert held by The Rolling Stones at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton, Wallasey, England on Monday, 10 August, 1964. After their covers of John Lennon's and Paul McCartney's "I Wanna Be Your Man," Chuck Berry's "Come On," and Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" propelled them into public recognition as faces of the so-called British Invasion, the legendary rock band performed at six separate tours in 1964, with the Tower Ballroom performance taking place during their third British tour. This rare, original poster is printed in striped black text noting the venue, performance date, promoter Bob Wooler, ticket price ("8'6 from cavern & usual agencies"), and 12 supporting acts against beige construction paper backing. The poster exhibits minor staining and wear along its edges from age and handling. Jagger played reclusive rock star Turner opposite James Fox's Chas, and was one of Jagger's few forays into cinema.The printed draft contract is unsigned and has numerous handwritten annotations and corrections across its 12 pages. The pages are held together with ribbon. The draft is dated "1969" and the film is called by its original title of "The Performance". The contract is folded in half and has some minor staining.
