Cremonese School (circa 1540's). Portrait of a Young Lady, head and shoulders, with braided hair and wearing a striped dress. Inscribed on a plaque attached to the frame "Tiziano Vecellio 1477-1576", oil on canvas, 53.5cm by 47cm. Provenance: Julius Lowy and Shar-sisto, 1228 Second Avenue, New York. Professor Bernard Aikema has dated the work to this period. Contained within an elaborately decorated gilt plaster and wooden frame, in the renaissance style. See illustration
Circle of Benjamin West R.A. (1738-1820). An Indian Chief seated beside a Tree, a tomahawk and quiver hanging on a tree, a storm raging above. Oil on canvas, 76cm by 97.5cm. Born in Springfield, Pennsylvania where he learned the "mechanical part" of art. In 1763 settled in London as a portrait painter, but his exhibits at the Society of Artists 1764-1768 were mainly historical works. He also designed stained glass. See illustration
Attributed to Sir Godfrey Kneller, Bt (1646-1723). Portrait of Anne Breame, Mrs Humphry Ambler, full length, seated wearing a white blouse, red dress and blue robe, a rose bush to the left, a landscape beyond. Oil on canvas, 127cm by 101.5cm See illustration. The sitter is the mother of the children in lot 793.
Joseph André Cellony (1696-1746). Portrait of the Ambler Children, Humphry, Elizabeth and Charles, with their dogs, standing on a terrace with buildings in a parkland setting. Signed and dated 1726, inscribed with the Ambler family tree on an old label verso, oil on canvas, 175.5cm by 201cm. Charles, a noted lawyer, was a King's Council (KC) before being appointed Attorney General. Only sone of Joseph Cellony (1663-1731) and having acquired the rudiments of his father’s hand, he was sent to Paris for further training in the workshop of Hyancinthe Rigaud. One of his sons, Joseph II Cellony (1730-187) was also a distinguished painter. See illustration

†Harry Holland (b.1941). "Nude". Signed, inscribed on an exhibition label verso, oil on canvas laid down, 32.5cm by 31.5cm. Provenance: Andrew Knight Gallery, 31 Charles Street, Cardiff. Born in Glasgow, trained at St. Martin's School of Art from 1965-69. His work is in public collections world-wide including the Tate Gallery, British Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, National Museum of Wales, National Portrait Gallery Canada, Welsh Arts Council, European Parliament Collection, Belgian National Collection and the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge.
