Original vintage World War Two poster - Switch off that LIGHT! Use Electric appliances less. Cut down in Lighting, Heating and Cooking. Generating electricity consumes coal. Coal is vitally needed for war production. Turn that GAS down! Never burn gas needlessly. Never have gas higher than you need for heating, cooking or lighting. Gas wasted means coal wasted instead of being used to make munitions. Don't waste WATER! Never was under a running tap - use less water in your bath, in your kettle, and for washing up. Hot water takes fuel. Cold water uses power when it's pumped along mains. Release more coal for the war drive. - with illustrations of a light switch, a gas heater, and a water tap set over red background. Printed for H.M. Stationery Office by Fosh & Cross Ltd., London. Very good condition, small tears, minor creasing. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 38x25, year of printing: 1940s.

h 20 cm Salvatore Leone "U Nnacchiareddu" was born in Caltagirone on April 13, 1912. He attended only the first grade and started working as a bricklayer from an early age and then became passionate about working with clay from the age of 18 at the Mastro Nino Abela cookery shop. . Here he began to make whistles and nativity figures strictly respecting tradition. He took the clay from the San Giorgio district, near his city and initially worked it by hand and then placed it inside the casts previously sprinkled with lime powder to prevent the clay from adhering to the casts. Finally, he gently overturns the cast so as to make the figurine come out, which must be retouched with wooden and iron sticks. In this phase, the 2-3 cm whistle is attached with a small amount of clay. After letting the whistles dry for a few days, he proceeded with cooking in a small furnace and then dipped them in lime milk and finally painted them. His figures are made in a coarse and very imaginative way using pure colors to attract the interest of the children, to whom the whistles were intended.

Mabel helped Helga with cooking, teaching her to make a pasty, a saffron cake, a heavy cake and a starry gazey pie, which came as a fortification when the Cornish slab in which the cooking was done was mastered' Sven Berlin, The Coat of Many Colours.
