FELLINI FEDERICO: (1920-1993) Italian film director, Academy Award winner. An excellent original colour crayon drawing executed and signed by Fellini, one page, 4to, n.p., n.d. (mid-late 1960s?). The image, predominantly drawn in black crayon although also including shades of blue, purple and pink, depicts a voluptuous lady, somewhat reminiscent of the actress Mae West, lying in a full-length naked pose on a bed. Signed by Fellini in black crayon at the foot of the drawing. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG Federico Fellini first met Mae West in 1963 and went to some lengths (apparently cooking her pots of pasta) in order to entice her into appearing in one of his films. The director declared 'Mae West is the mother of the empress, an erotic witch. She knows everything about the ancient ritual of bedrooms'. Ultimately the actress rejected Fellini's offers to appear in Juliet of the Spirits (1965) and Satyricon (1969).
