An antique 19th Century Victorian specimen wood games compendium box / chess board having a three quarter hinged lidded top with Greek key border decoration. The hinged top opens to reveal a fitted green felt lined interior with a lift out two section component complete with chess and checker pieces. All being raised on a chamfered edge plinth base. Measures approx; 10cm x 41cm x 40cm.

Includes 67 games in the Grand Tournament of 1857 held in New York, with Paul Morphy claiming the first prize. It also covers The Problem Tourney with 53 set-ups and their solutions in the back section of the book.
