Sundry Oriental items comprising Chinese lacquer box, 11cm diameter, bronze vase, 11cm high, bronze paperweight modelled as chess players and sailor on a boat, 18cm long base marked 'zhenshan', two coconut carved cups with pewter liners, larger 9cm diameter and a white metal cup, probably Burmese CONDITION REPORT: Lacquer box has chipping to rims. Figure in boat missing raised hand. The carved cups have some cracks. General wear in line with age and usage.

Legatura coeva in pergamena con tracce di due bindelle (mancanza e macchia al piatto anteriore). Rara prima edizione con l'ultimo passaggio in asta dieci anni fa. L'opera si occupa di aperture con e senza vantaggi secondo le regole italiane. Dimensions: Overall size: 12 1/2 x 9 3/8 in. (317 x 238 mm).Lot Note(s): Signed in pencil, lower left recto and lower center, verso; collectors ink stamps, verso. Executed on light cream wove paper. Condition: very good with no serious condition issues; slight paper waviness center left due to adhesion of collage element; scattered handling dimples; newspaper (?) fragments verso; edge toning four sides probably due to prior matting; presents very well. An oak cased games compendium housing a white and stained ivory chess set, height of king 5.5cm (some pieces af), draughts, dominoes, chequers/counters, dice, two Bezique counters and two American whist counters (both af), with two embossed leather backgammon/chess boards, the case 29 x 46.5cm.Additional InformationThere are chips and losses to some of the pieces, one of the kings has lost the finial, one of the stained rooks with a noticeable chip. Further chips and nibbles throughout, both sets of American whist counters and one of the Bezique counters damaged. Some of the counters broken. Further general wear throughout, both backgammon/chess boards also heavily worn.

A Victorian games compendium by F.H. Ayres Ltd London, with "The Guide to the Compendium of Games", including chess, draughts, backgammon, dominoes, Halma, The Steeplechase etc. Case dimensions 34 cm x 22 cm x 18 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet whilst structurally sound is well used and there are numerous ring marks, scuffs and scratches to the outer surfaces. The hinges are original and in good order. The lock and lock plate are present but we do not have a key. The interior of the cabinet is dirty and dusty with numerous small surface marks and scratches. One black pawn has a loss to the top thin turning, all other pieces are in good condition with only minor blemishes. One white bishop and the white queen have knot marks within the turning. The cribbage board has numerous surface scratches. The bezique markers instructions and cards are all a little worn around the extremities. There are 26 dominoes. There are 15 white draughts and 13 black. The horses are all missing paint. One jockey head is missing. One white horse has the front section of both front legs missing and the jockey head. One black horse has part of a rear leg missing. They are all a little bent. The fence is damaged and in two sections with losses. The folding games board has sellotaped repairs and scuffs and nibbles to the extremities. The instruction booklet is also dog eared, scuffed and worn.
