'Britain Shall Not Burn', a public information poster issued by the Ministry of Home Security circa 1941, designed by Fritz Rosen, depicting an incendiary bomb with a swastika, with an additional slogan 'Beat Firebomb Fritz' against a blue and white ground, 76 x 51cm. Provenance: this poster belonged to the vendor's grandfather who worked for Lancashire County Council in a clerical post during the Second World War, they have been in storage for 20 years since being inherited. CONDITION REPORT Very nicely presented. Some discolouration commensurate with age. The posters have been in storage for twenty years.

WW2 1943 RAF Pathfinder Squadron Bomb Aimer’s Casualty Family Group of Medals. This father and son group of medals was awarded to Flight Lieutenant Rupert Claude Sawyer Bomb Aimer with 35 (Pathfinder) Squadron which operated the Handley Page Halifax Bomber. Comprising: 1939/45 Star, Aircrew Europe Star, War Medal, Condolence forwarding Air Ministry Slip with typed name “FLIGHT LIEUTENANT R.C. SAWYER”, ... This group accompanied by a British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded to “M2-138812 PTE R.C. SAWYER A.S.C”. .... Also a small quantity of research. Flight Lieutenant Rupert Claude Sawyer enlisted into the ranks of the RAF on the 12th December 1940. After volunteering for aircrew duties, he was posted to Canada for training and qualifying as a Bomb Aimer returned to the UK. Commissioned on the 25th May 1942 he was posted to 10 Squadron and flew his first op on the 8/9th November 1942 which was a mine laying trip. After six trips he volunteered for Pathfinder duties and was posted to 35 Squadron, flying his first Pathfinder op on the 3/4th of February 1943 to Hamburg. He would fly a further 17 operations before on his 24th trip he was briefed for a raid on Duisburg. Outbound flying at 10,000 feet, his Halifax was attacked by a night fighter and crashed. F/Lt Sawyer and one other crewman lost their lives, the remaining of the crew survived four taken POW the Pilot evading capture. Private Percy Charles Sawyer is confirmed as F/Lt Sawyer’s father.

Awarded to 1260468 Warrant Officer Richard William Agg DFM, a WOP/AG who was Killed In Action with 9 Squadron in June 1944. Comprising: Distinguished Flying Medal, “1260468 SGT R.W. AGG R.A.F.” (Original ribbon and pin fitting), 1939/45 Star, Aircrew Europe Star, Clasp “France & Germany”, Defence Medal, War Medal. The campaign medals are a late official issue, accompanied MOD medal forwarding slip (Circa 1980’s). ... Accompanied by an original photograph of W/O Agg in uniform wearing the DFM ribbon. ... Copy service papers etc. The Recommendation for the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal was raised as an immediate Award and appeared in the London Gazette on the 29th September 1942.“214 Squadron This NCO is the mid-upper gunner on Warrant Officer Johnson’s crew. He was flying in the mid-upper turret on the nights 29/30 July, 15th/16th August and 28th/29th August 1942. On the night of the 28th/29th August 1942 after a second attack from an Me 110, he took over immediately from Sgt McGown, the rear gunner, and by his quick and accurate fire, shot pieces of the Me110 which dived out of control and exploded. On the night of 29th/30th July 1942, Sgt Agg fired with Sergeant McGown and again fired the “coup de grace”. Sergeant Agg has always taken part in the running commentary and has been very quick to take over from Sergeant McGown. His shooting has always been accurate and has been instrumental in destroying two enemy aircraft. He is extremely painstaking and conscientious in daily inspections and ground work and realises that gunnery success in the air depend to a great extent on good work on the ground. He has merited the confidence of his Captain and crew and is recommended for the award of the DFM. Sergeant Agg has carried out 18 night sorties involving 80 operational hours.”Remarks of the Station Commander: “The meticulous care with which Sergeant Agg has maintained his turret and guns on the ground and his courage, coolness and accurate shooting have shown that he is an Air Gunner of the very first type. He is an inspiration to all Air Gunners and I recommend him for an immediate award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.”Warrant Officer Richard William Agg joined the RAF in August 1940 and volunteered for Aircrew, being selected as a Wireless Operator / Air Gunner. After training he was posted to 214 Squadron, which at that time operated the Vickers Wellington and later converted to the first of the four engine heavy bombers the Short Stirling. He completed his first tour and was posted to 16 OTU in October 1942. Then followed an number of training posts, until he returned to Ops, this time with 9 Squadron operating the Lancaster Bomber flying from RAF Bardney in Lincolnshire. Joining the Squadron in May 1944 it was preparing for the D-Day landings and the follow up operations which would be essential. On the night of the 24th / 25th June the Squadron was tasked to attack a flying bomb site, it was a moonlight night and W/O Agg’s Lancaster was caught by a night fighter and shot down, crashing near Coulonvillers. On this night there was eight in the crew, of which only two survived and were taken POW. Warrant Officer Agg in July 1943 married his lifelong sweetheart, who lived in the same street as himself, there marriage would last less than 12 months.

WW1 1/4th (Hallamshire) Battalion York & Lancs Regiment Snap Shot Photograph Album. A rare unpublished snap shot album showing Officer’s of the Battalion in the front line trenches. The snaps are “Box Brownie” size and appear to personal shots of Officer’s in the line, including with French soldiers, also at rest, bomb damaged buildings and on leave. An number of images are devoted to graves of Officer’s and men of the Battalion. Circa 1916-17. 95 images the majority of military interest. .. Accompanied by a mounted photograph depicting a US cavalry Officer signed and dated 1915. The mount with a Irish Connaught Rangers Cap Badge The 1/4th (Hallamshire) Battalion York & Lancs Regiment at the outbreak of the War were in Sheffield and landed in France on the 14th April 1915. One of the graves is the original grave for Captain Charles Sproxton MC who was killed on the 19th July 1917.

All are numbered on the mounts and/or the barrels. In 1806 Jean Le Page received an order to refurbish the group for the use of the Emperor. An example by De Sainte is in the collection of the Bavarian National Museum, Munich (Inv.-Nr. 13/829.)Nicholas-Noel Boutet was a director of the Versailles Rifle Manufactory. Born in Paris, son of the Royal Gunsmith, in 1788. He married Emilie Desainte, daughter of his father's colleague Pierre De Saintes, Arquebusier Ordinaire du Roy. This conferred a greater influence at court and the title Gunmaker in Ordinary to the King.During the revolution, he worked for Napoleon at the Director of the State of Arms Company

JAMES BOND: THUNDERBALL (1965) - Early Bomb Carrier Design Model, Printed Concept Illustration, and Production Slides An early design model of Emilio Largo's (Adolfo Celi) bomb carrier, printed concept illustration, and production slides from Terence Young’s spy thriller Thunderball. This model was made as a concept for the bomb carrier seen in the underwater battle at the climax of the film as James Bond (Sean Connery) attempted to recover the nuclear warheads stolen by SPECTRE. Made of plaster, this sled is painted orange and red, while the warheads are unpainted. The model shows some differences from the full-scale version, particularly to the propeller and cockpit windows, which are not painted on the small model. The piece is signed by Jordan Klein who designed the vehicle. Included with the model is a glossy print of concept illustration showing the bomb carrier and 44 production slides from the underwater battle sequence. The concept illustration includes a shaded rending, and basic top, side, and front views of the vehicle. The production slides are housed in four protective slide sleeves. The set shows minor wear due to production use and age, with the model showing some wear to the paint which has undergone minor sympathetic restoration, however the lot remains in good condition. JAMES BOND: THUNDERBALL (1965) - Bomb Fuse Box The bomb fuse box from Terence Young's spy thriller Thunderball. After bringing down a NATO aircraft, Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi) stole two nuclear warheads and a bomb fuse box during an underwater attack. The box is made of aluminium and includes two locking clasps and a metal grip at the front. Both the back and the bottom of the lock box are outfitted with four rubber feet. Address labels were applied to the box lid and top after filming by underwater engineer Jordan Klein. The piece shows some wear due to production use and age, with scratches to the metal case and breaks in the rubber handle wrapping, however overall it remains in good condition. JAMES BOND: NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN (1983) - Underwater Bomb Sled Blueprints A set of blueprints depicting the bomb sled from Irvin Hershner’s spy thriller Never Say Never Again. James Bond (Sean Connery) tracked Maximilian Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer) to an underground facility known as the Tears of Allah. To transport his stolen nuclear warheads to his base, Largo used an underwater sled to navigate through the ocean. This lot includes a 127 cm x 84 cm (50" x 30") drafting blueprint, and five reduced size blueprints showing various elevations of the sled. Designed by Phillip Harrison, the large drafting is done in 3" =1' scale, and includes top, side, front, and back section views. The five 13 cm x 42 cm (5" x 16 ½") drafting plates are done in 1" = 1'scale and show the sled in its various forms, both transporting divers and the nuclear warheads. The set shows minor wear to the paper due to production use and age, but remains in fine used condition. Folded dimensions: 32 cm x 22 cm x 1 cm (12 ½" x 8 ½" x ¼") VAT Status - OMEGA

MEMPHIS BELLE (1990) - ‘Baby Ruth' Sheepskin Bomber Jacket A bomber jacket from director Michael Caton-Jones’ Second World War film Memphis Belle. The gunners of the B-17 bombers wore their jackets on their mission to bomb Bremen, with this jacket decorated for the crew of the bomber ‘Baby Ruth’.Made by the Wested Leather Company – made famous for their creation of leatherwear for the Indiana Jones series and various James Bond productions –the jacket is a B-3 bomber jacket made of brown sheepskin with a cream fleece lining. ‘Baby Ruth’ nose art is hand-painted on the back. A label for Leather Concessionaires – the makers’ name during filming – is stitched in the jacket. Distressed to look hard-worn from its time in battle, the jacket displays some minor scratches and wear to the sheepskin. The piece is marked size medium VAT Status - DAGGER

COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, WORLD MEDALS, France, Napoleon, Attempt on his Life, Copper Medal, Year 9 (1800), by H Auguste, uniformed bust left, AMOUR DU PEUPLE FRANÇAIS …, rev legend in ten lines, LES CITOYENS VOLENT …, 50mm (Brm 76; Julius 857; Ess 861). Extremely fine. The assassination attempt took place in the Rue Saint-Nicaise on Christmas Eve, 1800, when a massive bomb, the machine infernale, exploded near Napoleon’s carriage as he went to the opening night of Haydn’s opera Creation.
