[Details proved by Ron Jones' family state "He started with the Royal Engineers in 1946, trained as a bomb disposal officer where later on he was asked to join 2nd Parachute Regiment, after showing his bravery and his excellent service to the Paras he was then asked to take the tests for the special forces, which he passed with flying colours. He served all over the world and one said place he was taken prisoner and tortured before is comrades went in and pulled him out, the scars on is body he was ashamed of till the day he died. Some of the places he served are Palestine, Korea, Jordan, Brunei, Malaysia-Indonesia and Northern Ireland a few times. He also done quite a few coverts with the SAS which he was not allowed to talk about"

Two Naval wrens rating badge War medal with paperwork issued on 11th October 2006, when those who served at Bletchley park were finally decorated. A photograph album with a number f war time shots, possibly some taken around the Bletchley Park area. Miss Josephine Hatter, then Mrs Lewington, Royal Navy Wrens. Drafted to work at Bletchley Park with Alan Turing into decoder room ( She called it 'the bomb') She only spoke openly about all this in her later life. She remembered Alan Turing walking around the lake with his his coffee in his hand which he never got around to drinking and would throw it and the cup into the lake.

' Trenches Corrected To 1-1-17 ' to top. Some added pencil markings, presumed to be those marking bomb craters are also present. Linen backed as issued. Fragile - upper left section torn at seam, but still attached. Measures approx 68cm x 90cm when opened.

The photograph depicting a twin-engined bi-plane, with bomb release mechanism seen below. Two pilots rest against the fuselage. Believed to have been taken on an airfield outside Amiens, France. 31cm x 46cm total size.

An incredibly rare and original large section of canvas from a post-WWI First World War British Airship / Zeppelin R100. The large section features several 'ties' and string. Retains original silver paint to one side with remnants of a large letter ' A ' present, and brown paint to the other side. Mounted on a hanger for display. Measures approx; 160cm x 120cm. His Majesty's Airship R100 was a privately designed and built British rigid airship made as part of a two-ship competition to develop a commercial airship service for use on British Empire routes as part of the Imperial Airship Scheme. The other airship, the R101, was built by the British Air Ministry, but both airships were funded by the Government. R100 was built by the Airship Guarantee Company, a specially created subsidiary of the armaments firm Vickers-Armstrongs, led by Commander Dennis Burney. The design team was headed by Barnes Wallis, later famous for his invention of the bouncing bomb used in the Dambuster Raids of WWII. The design team also included Nevil Shute Norway as the senior stress engineer.

A stunning Oil on Board by Richard Thornton circa 1960s. Titled Tourettes Sur Loup-Provence A painter and architect, Richard Thornton was born in Bebington, Cheshire and attended the Birmingham School of Art from 1939 to 1941.Following active war service, he furthered his studies at the School of Architecture, Birmingham, from 1946 to 50. Elected an Associate of theSociety in 1978 full membership followed three years later. He has been in architectural practice all his working life and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1950. He has exhibited his paintings extensively throughout the West Midlands, his main mediums being watercolour and gouache. His pictures are mainlylandscapes incorporating buildings, no doubt owing some allegiance tohis architectural background. Prior to the mid-1960s most of his work depicted the Black Country and Birmingham, particularly showing bombdamaged buildings and industrial deterioration. Latterly however, the majority of his work has shown views of hill towns and villages in Tuscany and Provence of which this is one. Purchased from the artist while Thornton was still exhibiting in Birmingham, it has been in the same family since. The board not including frame measures 61x46cm. Goodclean condition, in original frame.
