From 1926 to 1929 Loetz was commissioned to produce a number of overlaid vases with etched decors which would bear different signatures at the customer's request
Benjamin Colson, an Arts and Crafts silver rose bowl and cover by Cecil Walker, London 1927, the compressed bowl with vine embossed shoulders and cable bordered pedestal base, the ribbon and reeded bar pierced cover with an amethyst mounted crown finial, 26cm (10.25in) diameter, 1441g (46.25 oz) gross. Exhibited: The Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, Royal Academy galleries 1928, no. 235(a) priced at #52 10s. Benjamin James Colson was born circa 1876 and worked as a silver chaser. He executed the tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey; The Battle of Britain Chapel Air Force Memorial in King Edward's chapel also at Westminster; the chased badge for The Second World War Memorial in the King's Own Royal Regiment Chapel, Lancaster Priory Church; and worked on the altar at Balliol College, Oxford.
