Shades of green, turquoise, blue and purple are typical of their work, and both enamel and gemstones were used. Famous clients included Pre-Raphaelite artists such as William Holman Hunt and Sir Edward Burne-Jones - and architect Sir Edwin Lutyens commissioned the firm to make several pieces. Although the partnership dissolved in 1899, Harold carried on alone adding royalty to his client list, including Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and King George V. When Harold passed away in 1915, the company closed, after trading for only 35 years. Their work is regarded today as some of the most representative of the Arts and Crafts style, and collectors always search for their trade mark on jewellery from this era - a sunflower between two Cs.
