A fine quality Foster & Bailey sterling silver and black enamel powder compact Of shaped rectangular form, with central circular floral guilloche enamel cartouche, the hinged cover lifts to enclose mirror and two sections, having three amethyst colour stones, impressed marks, circa 1873-1898, Rhode Island, length 8cm
5th-6th century AD. A gold finger ring comprising a C-section hoop with flared shoulders, stepped conical bezel with inset irregular amethyst, lateral spur with trumpet-mouth and later pearl bead. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 484. 11 grams, 40mm overall, 20.66mm internal diameter (approximate size British V 1/2, USA 10 3/4, Europe 24.91, Japan 24) (1 1/2"). Property of a South West London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; by descent 1986. Fine condition.
18th century AD. A gold finger ring comprising a D-section hoop, reserved scrolled foliage to the shoulders on a niello and white enamel field, split to support a chamfered cell with white enamel sides, inset pale amethyst table-cut stone. 4.20 grams, 25mm overall, 18.06mm internal diameter (approximate size British P, USA 7 3/4, Europe 16.55, Japan 16) (1"). Property of a West Lothian lady; previously with an English collector since before 1990. The stone is of the original 'Rhinestone' type, cut at Idar Oberstein. It may be older than the ring, where the black and white enamel is more typical of the 18th and 19th century. The table of the stone shows very little wear. Fine condition.

A gold finger ring comprising a round-section hoop with scale detailing, cruciform bezel of four ellipsoid and one discoid central cell set with cabochon garnet, amethyst and other stones. Cf. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, items 440, 464 for type. 5.33 grams 24mm overall, 20.03mm internal diameter (approximate size British U, USA 10, Europe 22.83, Japan 22) (1"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s. Fine condition.
