West Compton was a thriving Village and bigger than Pilton, which is now the route from Glastonbury to Cannards Grave.West Compton had a Public House and Church and did a lot of Sheep trading. A stone trough was found that was used in the time of The Black Death to pass coins into vinegar to sterilize for passing them from one person to another.West Compton was a staging post to change horses for the final uphill run to Cannards Grave.
