BRYNMAWR FURNITURE - BOOK TROUGH & MIRROR. Including an oak book trough with a chamfered back and sides, with a label to the reverse (43.5cms across, 24cms high). Also with an oak mirror with a bevelled glass plate and chamfered to the bottom corners. Unmarked, (86cms across, 61cms high). (2) *Brynmawr Furniture Makers Ltd was a furniture manufacturing company set up in the midst of the Great Depression in the United Kingdom as part of the Brynmawr Experiment in Brynmawr, Wales. Following the General Strike in 1926, Brynmawr had been particularly badly affected and was left with high levels of unemployment. Brynmawr Furniture Makers factory was set up as part of Quaker-led effort to tackle the issues starting in 1929. It was known for well-made utilitarian designs but closed in 1940. *CR Book trough, some colour loss in places (water, sun) and some spotting to the surface, otherwise seems in reasonable order.Mirror, seems generally in good order.
