Pair of 19th Century porcelain vases, probably French, each having a painted reserve depicting country folk with animals within a gilt surround and on a lavender ground, blue painted marks illegible due to drilled hole, contemporary but unassociated ormolu mounts, 20.5cm high exclusive of mounts Condition: Both vases have been drilled trough base and had central bolt through connecting metal mounts, minor rubbing to gilt borders plus some glue residue to rim. One metal rim mount is attached, remainder are detached but present. **General condition consistent with age
Late 19th/early 20th Century French kingwood and tulipwood book trough, the shaped superstructure with brass bound V shaped book stand over rectangular under tier and further V shaped shelf to base, raised on four cabriole supports with gilt sabots and brass castors, 49cm x 26cm x 79cm high Condition: General minor veneer cracking, small veneer loss to undershelf and brass edging would benefit from a clean but overall sound. Mid Victorian Aesthetic period gilt highlighted ebonised reading table, the moulded circular top with gilt tooled black Morocco skiver, over adjustable handle arm with reading upon ring-turned and incised stem and triform book trough with quatrefoil pierced sides and turned supports, on reeded tripod base, 50cm top diameter x 72cm high Condition: Morocco top has been restored/replaced. Some grain splitting visible beneath Morocco lining to lower section in the form of cracks/creases but otherwise sound. 17th century AD. A marble ornamental garden water trough recalling classical sarcophagi, with segmented frontal face, grotesque facing mask with ivy leaves and tendrils modelled in high relief, similar with beard and bovine ears, central heater shield with scalloped upper edge and fleur-de-lys; drainage holes to the bottom and one end panel. 300+ kg, 135 long x 54.5 high x 43 deep (53 x 21 1/2 x 17"). From an important Mayfair gallery; acquired before 1999; available to view at our Harwich head office only. Fine condition, some old repairs.
