A SAMPLER 19th century, by Anne Lye, aged 7 years, comprising two Bible verses ('Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy Youth...'; and 'I love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me'), with upper and lower case alphabets, numbers, and a trough of flowers, within a stylized floral and foliate border, 32.5cm x 31cm. Note: According to a family label verso Anne Lye lived from 1829 until 1884.
