Provenance: The original owner of this bear Franz Joseph Fritz was born on 6 December 1919 in Meran, a town in South Tyrol, northern Italy. An aristocratic family from Austro-Hungarian noble descent, their origins date back to the year 1200. Being post WWI, it is most likely this bear was passed down from a relative or bought from a shop where he had been resting a long time!
