A rare Steiff Petsy centre-seam Teddy Bear, circa 1929, with white brown-tipped mohair, rare blue and black opaque glass side-glancing googlie eyes, pronounced muzzle, pink stitched nose, mouth and claws, large wired ears, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump, inoperative growler and large FF button in ear, circa 1929 - 19in (49cm) high (some thinning to body, dirty, slight holes to two pads and tipping faded). Provenance: This bear was the childhood toy of Elena (Nelly) Norman Jacobs-Buchanan (1916-2006); who was the fourth child and only surviving daughter of Harry Norman Jacobs and Janet Boyd Buchanan. She was born in the province of Entre Ríos (northern Argentina), where her father managed a 7,000 hectare farm owned by an English gentleman and investor who never set foot in Argentina. Petsy was given to Nelly on her 10th or 12th birthday (1926 or 1928), which Harry either ordered from a catalogue or bought in Buenos Aires at the local branch of Harrods

A rare early Steiff pre-button felt elephant skittles, (Ele) all nine skittles of dark grey felt, black glass bead eyes, wooden tusks and turned wood bases, the Kingpin with red felt tail coat with yellow felt trim and crown with gilt braid and spangles, original ribbons and bell to others, circa 1901 - 7½in (19cm) height of King (some moth damage and repairs); two homemade cloth balls; a watercolour of Agharainy in Donaghmore and another of the play house by Elizabeth Kinnard; a cut-out photographic standie of Robert Brown; and two postcards and a letter head for Colleen Soap, McClinton’s Ltd. Provenance: These skittles were bought by Robert Brown for his children and were kept by Alice, the middle of five children, until her death in 1994 at the age of 93. The Browns were a wealthy family from Donaghmore, in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. They made their fortune from selling high quality soap.
