Steiff Fine Antique large 22” teddy bear 1909. ; a glorious golden original teddy bear with the long arm articulation and felt pads , some stitched claws remaining and his steiff signature metal button in his ear , larger rounded enamelled metal boot button original eyes, shaven cropped muzzle and the vertical stitched snout and smile in black wool original thread. An appealing enquiring all knowing facial appearance and good cup ears , a centre seam stitched constructed torso, hump to rear, areas of wear to the mohair with age and on pads etc , the right hand has a seam on the hand pad which requires a repair on the seam . A rather wonderful bear who has survived 2 world wars and has lived a fine life. (1)

German Mohair rare standing upright shape teddy style black cat with green eyes 1912 ; A delightful playworn black cat with provenance. Given as a teddy cat toy from Germany( construction is like a Steiff) in 1912 to a miss D Allely from Edgbaston as a cherished gift , which was then donated to the childrens society in 1987 during a national teddy appeal fund raiser and purchased by the vendor. The standing cat has had areas of perish across the years and its original owner made a dress and bonnet and a coat and hat during the first world war( all enclosed) and together with the original letter from the original owner , stating its provenance. The teddy cat has a torn ear after a button or tag was removed by the child historically and he has wood wool coming loose on his seam perish-a net pair of arm straps and pants was stitched on by the 1930s to try and keep the wood wool loss-he retains his stitched claws and felt hands and feet paws pads and his beautiful green original early glass eyes and rose stitched smile . The cat will benefit by some remedial repairs to open seams to keep her beautiful. Kitty is a wonderful piece of German toy manufacture and the upright standing cat with tail is seldom seen , c 13” ( cat and original clothing and note from its original owner for interest)
