A collection of Derby, Stevenson & Hancock and Royal Crown Derby porcelain, comprising a pair of shaped circular plates, gilt with flowers and leaves and heightened in pink, 21.5cm diameter, two coffee cups and saucers, one painted in silver and gold with butterflies amongst flowering branches and the other in the Japanesque taste, a cup and saucer, and an octagonal saucer (9).
A set of eight English porcelain dessert plates, circa 1850, centrally painted with differing flowering branches, 22.5cm diameter, a Royal Copenhagen porcelain two-handled bowl and cover painted with a dog rose, a Royal Crown Derby blue and white triple hors d'oeuvres dish, a miniature Stevenson & Hancock Derby Imari pattern jug and basin, lacks foot, and a similar vase (13).

A racing plate worn by the 1891 Triple Crown winner "Common",the grooved area painted red, nailed onto a wooden base set with a plaque inscribed 1891, COMMON, WON 2,000 GNS., & THE DERBYFrom the inscription it would seem that this shoe was removed and preserved as a commemoration of the The Derby win at Epsom, the horse already a 2,000 Guineas winner. It can't be later than this because as a three-year-old he went on to win the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot before becoming the fifth racehorse in history to win the Triple Crown with victory in the St Leger.Common was owned by Sir Frederick Johnstone who had already owned a Derby winner, St Blaise, in 1883. The colt was trained by John Porter at Kingsclere and ridden by George Barrett.
