Unusual painted porcelain heart panel brooch, painted by George Jessop (1882-1944), showing a peacock perched on a balustrade beside an urn with flowers in a garden with cedar trees to the distance, in a mount, stamped ‘9ct’ to the side, with a cord border, signed in red to the reverse, measuring 3cm long and 3cm at the widest point. George Jessop was a decorator for Royal Crown Derby and also Sampson & Hancock. Bamfords auctioneers sold a Sampson & Hancock oval shaped dish decorated by Jessop with a similar peacock scene, 21/3/06
