Ackermann [author of 'Popular Fallacies' etc.], explaining the pros and cons of using a publisher to publish a book in return for royalties as against self-financing the publication and letting a publisher take the title on commission, noting that Ruskin and Gerbert Spencer are notable examples of this latter practice, and then referring to [W.H.] Davies the Supertramp poet who 'began by having a long poem, printed and bound for cash acrtoss the counter and peddling it from door to door', one ink ms insertion in final sentence, signed in blue ballpoint pen, 2pp, 4to (1)
