A large crested Canton Dish, c.1830, the centre with Shoulao and a boy on a deer approaching figures in a garden and on a terrace, including a seated man with a boy on his lap, the wide border with colourful birds, butterflies, flowers and rui sceptres, one overlaid with a panel pencilled en grisaille with a crest and the motto `Optimus est qui minimis urgentur` on a garter, 41.3cm. The dish bears the crest and motto of Best of Gloucester. David Howard illustrates an egg cup from the same service, Chinese Armorial Porcelain II, 2003, x5, p.678
